Yeah I'm also a super huge fan of the furniture color. This AK comes in various configurations and I saw a guy buy the last Serbian red off the wall at my favorite shop as I walked in last year. I waited months for them to call me back and let me know they got another one in and I was able to snatch this up when they did 😄 Yeah AK rail mounts of that style go on pretty easily, just slide them on and flip the lever. However, it requires that the AK has the side rails to support that feature which not all do.

I’ve got the same one with about 500 rounds through it so far. Love it. Only thing I noticed and it may be normal is I can hear recoil spring moving when shooting. Have you heard this on yours?

I don't think I've heard the recoil spring, at least not when I have my earplugs in. Are you sure it's not the noise of the rear sling swivel on the bottom of the stock rattling when you fire?

I have the exact same rifle but for some reason my Magpul pmags m3 don’t work with my Zastava. They will go in but they don’t click in where the mag release is, my metal mags work no problem.

Hmm that's strange as my Magpul PMAGs are also the M3's. Mine click in but it is a bit stiffer than with a metal mag. I think perhaps your magwell or mag release tolerances might be just a tad tighter than mine which prevents the tab from seating completely. I guess you can stick with the metal mags unless you wanted to fuss with the PMAG's or your gun. Good luck to you.

Any issues with the metal mag it comes with? The rounds are loose on the follower of mine. Never seen nothing like it before. Like the spring doesn’t have enough tension to keep pressure on the rounds once inside the mag

I don't recall having any issues but if you got a mag you don't like, I wouldn't worry too much about it because they're super easy to replace. There are great metal mags you can get at really good prices that work flawlessly and are built really well. I have a mix of 30 and 40 round polymer and metal mags that I share between my AK's and I like those more than any of the stock magazines that came with the guns. Good luck, and thanks for watching.

@@GigatonsGunworks oh yeah for sure I have a bunch of yugo surplus mags that work great. I think I just got a lemon. Believe it or not PSA makes a waffle mag that works very well. Metal feed lips and metal locking lug 🤷‍♂️ their 762 aac ammo works well also

I'm a fan of having a wide variety of mags for my rifles so I'll consider checking them out if I get the itch again to spend money irresponsibly on more magazines I don't really need or have space for 😂

@@GigatonsGunworks cool 👍🏼 PSA seems to make pretty decent stuff. I just recently picked up a GF5 AKM from them and it seems decent. I wanted something to keep the rounds off my imports. 400 rounds in no issues but I have heard horror stories. I have extra firing pins if I start to get light primer strikes I’ll swap it out. Keeping everything original so for now so I can really keep an eye on things.

I’ve heard people say that the red stain comes off and sucks, anyone have experience with that, I’m considering getting one

I'm not sure how it's possible to get that to happen, I assumed the red was the natural color of redwood used and not just a stain. I grab all the wood furniture with my oily hands covered in Breakfree CLP every time I clean this thing and all the furniture is as vibrant as the day I brought it home from the store. I've never seen any coloration come off from the grip, stock, or handguard and it never occurred to me it was even possible. I would recommend the version with the Serbian Red furniture set to anyone. Good luck to you.

I have one too and the stain is solid. The red is part of the stain actually, but I put some linseed oil on it every once in awhile like the manual says and haven’t lost any of the color. Eventually it will get dinged up and scratched from use but when that happens I’ll restain and refinish the wood the same color and add a gloss coat over that.

@@JiveTurkey1618 Great to know! I actually didn't know the manual said to apply any kind of preservative... TBH I've never actually read the manual 😅. That being said, I've never done anything to mine and haven't lost any coloration yet but as you said, I've got a couple barely noticeable knicks and dings from ejected steel and brass casings on the wooden handguard from use which is all a part of the fun. I'm really happy with with the Serbian Red furniture personally. Thanks for your 2 cents!

Many outdoor ranges don't allow you to shoot steel core ammo. That's completely different from what I'm shooting here which is just steel case ammo. Steel core ammo uses steel in the actual bullet / projectile that you fire. These bullets can cause sparking if you shoot at their steel targets which is a brush fire hazard in many parts of the country. Steel case ammo is perfectly fine and allowed at all outdoor ranges because the cases that get ejected out of your gun don't pose any brush fire risk. Ammo can be steel core with a brass case, and can also be lead core with a steel case. The Wolf Polyformance used in this recording is lead core / steel case which is range friendly.
