Young Justice probably has my favorite version of Zatanna. I was bummed that she ends up joining the Justice League only because we didn't get to see her as often. She was a lot of fun in Season 1, and I felt like we lost some of that in Season 2, but what we did get was still nice enough.

I don't hate Young Justice (or Young Justice's Zatanna), but I prefer the comic Zatanna. She a grown woman, and I did not like that they reduced her to a teenager. She dated Batman. She is considered one of his love interests. She flirts with Superman. So, the whole ZatannaxDick is weird and wrong. I would have liked it if she had a magically apprentice and she was already in the Justice League. Besides, she been in the Justice League since the 80s or 90s?! This was a step back.

There are plenty of different stories with these characters throughout the years in several mediums where some follow the same story and others not. Who cares if in one universe zatana is a teen while in all others she's an adult like batman? Not everything in each iteration of a series will be the same and nor should they be because that defeats the purpose of making a separate continuity. It's fine if you prefer zatana as an adult but it doesn't hurt anything if she's young in this series. I'm used to harley quinn being evil and in love with the joker but i know there's some series where she's dating poison ivy or a hero in other series. I'm not used to that but i don't rule it out because there separate universes from the ones where she's still the evil girlfriend of joker.

+George Gilles -- The death of Zatara has _at least_ as much effect on her character as the death of Uncle Ben does on Spider-man. I think it would have been much more interesting to see her try to accept the deal her father made with Naboo and try to maintain a relationship with both of them. There are many different ways to play that: -- In some ways its not all that different from having a new stepparent. -- In others, its like dealing with a parent's mental illness -- Most of all, its a way to show that not all the costs of being a hero fall on the heroes themselves.

Zatanna is one of my favorite female characters. Young Justice does a great job with her and her development throughout the show. What I always liked about this version of Zatanna was her rebellious nature and passionate demeanor. I also liked that she was comfortable with Dick Grayson when he was flirting with her, which makes me sad that they are no longer a couple. And I also liked how the show made Zatanna a very vulnerable character when her father became Doctor Fate.

If you play a regular voice recording backwards it sounds weird and extremely difficult to say because the flow and speed in which we speak is created to go a certain way. hearing it backwards makes no sense to our linguistic style. Sooooo when Zatanna talks backwards she's just flipping the word around and pronouncing it like it's a normal word like our English language would normally pronounce a word with letters in that order. So playing a recording of her in reverse will just sound as nonsensical as any other word being played in reverse. Make sense?

I'm pretty sure Zatanna only tries to free her father the once because she enough of a magician to know that no amount of power could ever remove the Helmet of Fate by force. Literally the only way to remove the helm is if Nabu relinquishes the body, and then of course also by death. I would have loved to see just a Zatanna back story plot in general, like explored with the other characters.

I don't think Dr Fate was ever a popular character...Just another face in the JLU and that's it. Making him Zatanna's father, who isn't just called Fate but is trapped by fate makes them a lot more intriguing. I'd love to see a Dr Fate that carries out a noble duty that only he can but which he foresees will cause loss and terrible deeds, and struggles for freedom, occassionally managing to delegate some of that responsibility, you know, just playing with the concept of fate and everything.

Zatara himself is, at least on his part, resilliant, as he's solidly religiously devout- and into true religion. This'd act as a stabalizing element in his life, ensuring the ability to resist evil influences- he also seems diametrically against any playing around about performing miracles- which she's too amateurish to realize you really really really do *NOT* want to do, ever. The Lego Master 105 after Giovanni was saved by Sindella, they got married and had Zatanna together. I think Sindella pretended to die during childbirth but actually went back to her home in Turkey(?) later in life Zatanna does go looking for her though
