6:43 for those of you who don't know, Flip is checking under the bed for the -bedpan- chamber pot, which was a 'convenience' item for farmhouses that did not have inside plumbing back in those days. The -bedpan- chamber pot would save a trip to the outhouse during the night, especially if it was very cold outside. My grandparents had used -bedpans- chamber pots when they were growing up in the early 1900's. Look at his grim face at 6:45 when he doesn't find a -bedpan- chamber pot under there. No -bedpan- chamber pot would mean that if he had to go to the bathroom overnight, his only good option would be to go outside at night to the out house to 'do his business'. Ha, and then he whispers into the skeleton's ear "brzh brszh brrzh" asking where does he go to the bathroom.

@Ali Hadizadeh Moghadam - 😂 Ha! I never asked my grandparents that question. I guess if one needed to urinate, the odor might not be too bad. As for 💩, one might have options, such as deciding if it would be "worth it" to go outside and use the outhouse. If not, maybe put a towel over it and put it in a closet if they had a closet, and dump it outside in the morning, or maybe put it in a hallway🤔 Edit: think of people in the hospital who can't get out of bed use a bedpan.

My father was a volunteer fireman for over 40 yrs. Every year they had a christmas party for a group of "kids" from a state facility (institution) . I looked forward to the party every year as well as helping to get food and drinks for them . setting up the cartoon movies - like this one . then it was time for Santa to arrive via the fire truck . All the guys took turns being Santa . The last party that took place was very bitter sweet . These "kids" looked forward to seeing Santa . Since all the guys already did their turn , the only one left to be Santa was this old girl and it was my pleasure to step into the red suit . After the "kids" left to head back to the facility , I was joined by the firemen to go up to a nursing home . We did this partly because the patients in there never had visiters , so we gave them a memory of joy and happiness . We also would sing Christmas Songs and give hugs to those who wanted one . I would do it all again if I could . The movies ? Well there were some black and white and some in color . I really enjoyed the ones in black and white more than the ones in color . They were a part of history which made them priceless.

This is an incredibly well thought out cartoon, with a coherent plot, some of the best drawing ever, and countless perfect details such as the facial expressions (love that horse), the remarkable warped design of the house, the music, the voices (!) and the expressiveness of the skeletons. Artistically it all just flows together. Possibly Ub's finest work and a real masterpiece. --- PS it shows that Flip had real star potential. Too bad it never got realized. --PPS That finale is chilling.

Love these vintage cartoons! All hand drawn and painted by artists -- not this computer generated animation of today. I think the older Disney cartoons and Merrie Melodies and Looney Tunes were among the best -- my opinion. Still prized collector's items are the hand painted "cels" from those early cartoons if you can find them.

1:59 notice the butler has "hair" on the side, but is bald on top. And i love how the ghost skeleton turns the chicken around to give Flip the 'tail end' of the chicken, but of course Flip doesn't want it because it is 'dark meat' and puts it back on the plate and folds his hands, ha ha. Then Flip's polite chattering of his teeth on the leg bone to make believe he is 'eating' it.

@cmans79tr7

Alexandre - When i went to school in the 1960's and 1970's our history books told us about the "Dust Bowl' years in the Midwest Farmlands in the United States during the 1930's, when and where the dry and windy conditions during that time covered many farms with dust/dirt so thick that crops could not be grown, so many farms and farmhouses were abandoned. The animators of these cartoons who lived during those times would have known very well about the abandoned farms, and since farms were so large, and farm houses were so far apart from each other, if you were alone in an abandoned farmhouse, there would be no one living in that empty house, nor anyone for miles away to help you if you were being bothered by a ghost, especially if the closest farmhouse is also abandoned. Therefore, you'd be battling a ghost by yourself with no one around to help you. Potentially VERY scary💀

@@Myself23512 - Yes the US is indeed very interesting, and most people do not get to see much of it because it is so big, and so expensive to travel and takes too much time to travel to the many areas if you have to work to pay the bills. There is a KZbinr called "The Daily Woo" who quit his day job and drove his van/motorhome over a lot of mostly the Southern US, and he posted a video EVERY DAY for a couple of years, i think around 2014, so four or five years ago. He went to a lot of small towns, saw a lot of things and met a lot of people. If you look at his channel he recently is concentrating on theme parks for children, so i suggest you skip all his recent posts, and scroll WAY down in his Videos to 2014 or so, and maybe before. And he kept a video record of it. Traveling through the US is something that a lot of us wished we could do.

Flip the frog has a lot of similarities to Mickey in his expressions. He even looks just like him without the nose and ears

Ub Iwerks was Disney's partner and even created the design for mickey mouse. Iwerks left Disney's studio because he ws tired of not being properly credited by disney desspite doing most of the animation work.

Why did the cow turn into a skeleton at the end? Did it get cursed? Was it in league with the skeletons all along? I loved the cartoon, but I don’t get the ending.

Alexandre - i believe that was flip's horse (not a cow) waiting for him outside at the end. I could be wrong, but i interpret the horse turning into a skeleton at the end as a metaphor for not being able to escape things that may haunt you (including death?). Flip thought he was escaping safely from the skeletons in the house, but his 'rescuer' the horse did not help him get away.

There IS a bone in the ear. It is the smallest bone in the human body, and is connected to the tympanic membrane (ear drum).
