Zazu may be showing symptoms of glaucoma. Without treatment he may lose his eyesight. He does not stick his head out the car window because his eyes are dry. His eyes are dry because his tear ducts are not fully formed. Another symptom, he may be occasionally bumping his head on furniture and door jambs when he turns around. This is a result of poor peripheral vision. By no means am I an expert. I was once blessed with a little German Shepherd girl named Abbey. She started showing signs of glaucoma when she was very young. I did everything I could to try to save her eyesight. With Abby's experience I can often observe early signs of glaucoma. I would encourage you to take Zazu to a Veterinary eye doctor. Thank you.

I love his disposition he is so loyal to you, and I see how he rides in the car, my lab preferred to co pilot with me, and to lip off to traffic too, I miss her. Seriously enjoy both of your dogs and I share them with my daughters and my grandchildren too, my oldest granddaughter received her middle name from our dog, she was so loved.

One of our Goldens got sick in the car as a pup, and never liked car rides, her whole life. Current Golden was held on her first few car trips instead of crated. She's no longer held but ADORES car rides. In fact, I think we'll enjoy one right now!

My Lab, Abby, would not eat ice, but loved ice water - and if it wasn’t fresh enough or cold enough, she would take 1 sip & then just look at me - yes, I think most of us pet owners are well trained ! And yes, she also would eat anything I held out to her - loved Romaine lettuce leaves
