These drums were a signal it is news time on ZBC radio stations and TV. I once talked to Vambe and he was bitter about the payment issue but he had done this whole session I got.

As a Zambian who grew up in Livingstone town I grew up watching this channel ZBC cause ours was and will forever be crap ZNBC, ZBC was miles ahead of ZNBC so we ended up buying a UHF aerial and put it as high as we could, so that way we could pick the signal from the other side of the border so many great memories great channel in the late 90's early 2000's. .

I too grew up watching ZBC. In Maamba we only had access to ZBC TV. We too had a 20 metre high antenna so that we could pick the signal from across Lake Kariba. The whole township was dotted with antennae outside each and every household

I interviewed him once and he was bitter but now almost 15 years after I feel deserved not to be paid. what he did was to be recorded playing a common drum. it is a community's intellectual property passed over years
