Please read the description for more information about the content.
FromSoftware will be Introducing what character artist does to build the FromSoftware's game world.
"DARK SOULS" series and "SEKIRO: SHADOWS DIE TWICE" character artist Ryo Fujimaki from FromSoftware will show you the character artist's work, and what need to be considered when creating a creature and the character design. Using his original personal work "Wyvern" and the "Mermaid". he will show you the tips and tricks of ZBrush and how to use them.
ZBrush Merge is an annual event which is exclusive to Japan, showcasing the industry leading artist and studio's use-cases of ZBrush and how they use the software in their pipeline.

You can have the subtitles translated to English in the CC settings menu. It's not perfect, but that way you can get the gist.

@@brianwolf9052 Thanks for the suggestion. I have tried and for me that I don't speak english natively is very difficult to follow the video this way, besides, auto translating from an ideogram written language makes this tool generate very confusing and non sense sentences.

The sculptris pro and decimation master workflow is actually more fun than using dynamesh and worrying about the subdiv at early stages of the sculpting process. Why didn't those tutorials tell me there's a fun way to sculpt freely as an artist? :o

For any wondering, this guy's name is Ryo Fujimaki. Lead character designer on Bloodborne. It's a shame that the Wyvern and Mermaid designs were never used in any of their games! I especially like the Mermaid design; could totally have seen both in Dark Souls.

Nope - he says they have nothing to do with From's work, they're just personal things he created to increase his own knowledge and serve as easy to understand technical examples.

Hit the settings button and change subtitles to translate to English. It isn't a very good translation but you will get this gist.

​@@the.musiciangamer They just wanted to tell us how the Model was created, what technique they were used, what kind of mesh(is it a fiber or micro mesh), how the AO will make final render looks much better. hard to say what what's the point, but yeah that's what they're explained. but the description says they wanted to tell us the details of its model. (don't mind about my english)

Nice ZBrush Models, but getting those "rope strands" in a game engine ... lol . I think they are using these zbrush models for promo assets and/or cinematics .

yes, the one in showreel (without texture aka zbrush view) is Sculpting high poly, and the game one is already retopology (well, that's obviously)

He's saying that by keeping the barnacles at one height and the mushrooms at a second height, (as opposed to just adding more detail) you're providing more detail without over-complicating the presentation.

@@aokajiya Oh ok, thanks. This translation made me think that he had like a method of making it as 2 levels of heigth on baked maps and making it work as lowpoly. I'm just curious how can they squish so much detail in those models and keep them functional.

last one looks a lot like kos, if you look closely kos DOES have a human like face and all that, but yknow kos is dead and we only find the orphan of kos. maybe there could be a bloodborne 2 where you see kos but, not all dead and stuff

Look up tutorials on "PBR Character work flows", pbr referes to real time characters. But in essence they make a high poly model, then they retopo it, and then create a bump map from the high poly model which they apply to the low poly to create high details... this is very crude, but that's essentially it.

@@terence19100 PBR is about physically based rendering, it has nothing to do with real time character, and you don't make bump map from the high poly, you make normal map

I'm sure those are not concept arts for an upcoming fromsoftware title. why ? Because he would have violated a contract with fromsoftware with that and most likely would get fired or charged. There are contracts for stuff like that, he isn't allowed to show anything of upcoming titles, this isn't a leak or anything like that couldn't be traced back. Fromsoftware got the rights on stuff he would create for them.
