The R+L trailer at 6:34 is rather unusual. I'm a driver for them, and we don't run much intermodal, although that is starting to change. I've been getting several container trailers lately, mostly from Chicago to Youngstown. I've also been seeing more and more of our containers on trains running the Fort Wayne line in Ohio.

Those containers started showing up on BNSF several months ago.

Why are there so many trains with helpers? I don't know where this is located exactly... are there many hills to climb? Or are those trains very heavy? Everything looks as usual as it can be - except for the many working horses at the train rear ends. Well, whatever reason causes this.. I really love locomotives as pushers
@TrainVidsWithTom6 жыл бұрын
This is in the Allegheny Mountains with some very steep grades requiring the use of those helpers.
@Silver_Turtle5 жыл бұрын
Not just the Allegheny Mountains -- Cresson is the point where helpers are cut off [westbound] and attached [eastbound] for the attack on Horseshoe curve.
@timothybarney72575 жыл бұрын
This is Cresson PA. East of here is Altoona, Harrisburg, and Philadelphia. Altoona is where NS' heavy repair shops are (formerly PRR/PC/Conrail). Altoona starts the real climb up the east face of the Allegheny mountains. This point is slightly west of the top of the grade down to Altoona. To the west, lies Johnstown, Pittsburgh, and points west. This is also a downgrade mainly between here and Johnstown. Depending on the train, helpers are needed on the ascent, and sometimes the descent down the other side either way. There is an engine serving facility visible when the first train passes through. Helpers are fueled and serviced here. It is also the start of a branch operated by R.J. Corman serving some of the coal mines in the area.

@GMB575 жыл бұрын
How is the title click bait? The wrecked locomotives are at 11:52

They're used as buffer cars, as most of the tank trains are either crude oil or ethanol.

This subject isn't "Wrecked Locomotives at Cresson". If it were, you'd have a valid complaint. The subject is "NS Pittsburgh Line Trains at Cresson" and the note about the wrecked locomotives is there to let a viewer know such an item is included in the video, but not the primary subject/purpose of the video, which again is NS trains at Cresson, PA.
@akaknowlesy105 жыл бұрын
@@TrainVidsWithTom You could have put it in the description instead of the title. Still misleading.
@TrainVidsWithTom5 жыл бұрын
The title and description combined describe exactly what is included in the video. There is nothing misleading whatsoever. Why wouldn't a unique move/locomotive be listed in the title to show that there is something unique included in the video? Again, the subject wasn't "Wrecked Locomotives at Cresson", which would be misleading if other stuff that wasn't that were included. How would you title it?
