RIP Steve McNair. They are not lying about him or about how Nashville, TN felt about him. I live in Nashville and I ran into him many times when he was alive and he was always polite and respectful. The city of Nashville loved him and still mourns his loss. I remember the game when that man lost his $100 dollars and he was so shocked that Mr. McNair payed him back and he was humbled. His scramble on that final drive in the Super Bowl where he shakes off two three hundred pound lineman and then throws a pinpoint dart downfield with everything on the line is the single greatest play that I've ever seen - in any sport.
@connorestes9814 Жыл бұрын
im from germany and havent been into football (nor alive lol) long enough to witness that, but the first time i saw it i was in awe. that play is the definition of mcnair. he defied the odds. did whatever, no matter the challenge. unbelievable player and an unbelievable man. an absolute tragedy that he isn‘t with us anymore.
@MrTitanic222 Жыл бұрын
@@connorestes9814 Greetings in Germany Connor. I've been alive a while. There was a fantastic documentary on that game that I can't find on-line. They interviewed a number of players and coaches from both teams. They showed how Kevin Carter, number 93, the First Team All Pro defensive end for the Rams who missed that sack/tackle (93), took himself out of the game after that play. That he was so exhausted that he could barely stand. Vermeil was enraged and was yelling at him, to suck it up for the final few plays of the game, but he couldn't. He refused to go in. Another defensive lineman who stayed in felt the same way - that McNair had broken them physically and mentally. It truly was an extraordinary play and that final drive was one for the ages. It is sad that they fell inches short. But it in no way detracts from the drive, and his sheer will to win.

I loved watching Steve McNair play. He put his entire body into every play, into every game. He played hurt so much of his career but the key word there is PLAYED, PLAYED damn hard. I have absolutely no negative thoughts or feelings about him having a mistress. We have no idea what was in his mind, his heart and by all accounts he was a great dad and husband. Sometimes introverts rarely meet anyone who they can relate, talk to and trust. Sadly his trust was misplaced but that mistake should not have cost Steve his life. We all make mistakes but rarely have to pay with our lives. I remember AIR McNair for being the toughest QuarterBack who I ever saw play the game; for his dedication to the kids (11,000 of them) who came through his camp free of charge; and for the love he had for his mom, his brothers, his wife, and especially his kids. Steve McNair was a great man and football player.

I'm from Baton Rouge, La. My dad took me to see Alcorn St vs Southern at A.W. Mumford Stadium before the fame. Steve was literally a MAN playing with boys out there. Right then and there I knew he was marked for GREATNESS. I'm just torn up knowing he's gone but his legacy will live forever. Rest in Peace Steve McNair. It was an absolute pleasure watching you dismantle defenses in the S.W.A.C.

I was a diehard Oiler fan that did not move on to the Titans. But I always had much love for the man and hard worker McNair was. Much love from West Texas to Steve McNair and his family.

When the Titans get back to the Super Bowl, they should win it for Steve McNair. That would be pretty damn awesome.

Just a tragic story. Those handsome sons talking about their dad....gosh damn that's strong. Certainly, McNair had some demons, by no means perfect. But, to anyone sitting on their high horse who feels justified judging this man, I remind that some of the best human beings on the planet went through unspeakably low periods in their life, making terrible decisions and hurting others along the way. Redemption is available to EVERYONE, and countless men and women have found it, recognizing their past wrongs and living the remainder of their lives with those scars. There's no way to know that Steve McNair would have traveled that road, but then there's no reason to conclude he wouldn't have. The tragic difference is that Mr. McNair did not get that opportunity. And to anyone who would say McNair "got what he deserved," I say: Go look in the mirror and repeat: "I'm a judgmental asshole who rationalizes his own sins but won't apply the same standard to his fellow human beings." And then go pray for some compassion and perspective.
