I have opened a lot of reels, but I have never touched a spincast reel. I didn't even know how they work. Your video explained everything. Now I get why they call them spincast. It spins, but you use it on top of the rod like a casting reel. Thanks for sharing!

Cool breakdown. The cleaning recommendations are nuts. I use my reels a lot and never clean them and they still last years. Most I'll do is dip it in the water to get sand off. I figure if I value all the time I've saved not cleaning them I can just buy a new one and still come out ahead.

Hey, I have taken apart a few reels in my time, but it can't restrain the handle and twist off the spinner head assembly. It looks so easy on your reel, but mine is not twisting off I don't know if I'm doing something wrong

I replaced the line in my spool on my Zebco bullet a while back, and now my drag function doesn’t work. What have I done? Any idea on how to fix? Thank you!
@patflan53795 жыл бұрын
Curious...with braided line, have you had any issues with line release during casting where the line catches and doesn't release freely? I purchased one for our daughter and in the beginning the line released easily, but after catching a few fish and maybe 2 hours of usage, the aforementioned situation arose. Thoughts?
@CastFromTheHip5 жыл бұрын
Nan Flan From my experience, braided line in this reel can be temperamental. I used 15lb Matzuo with 10lb mono backer to keep the braid from slipping off the spool. Rarely the cast would get hung up and not release freely. I also had to make 4 adjustments to the amount of braid in the spool because too much braid would cause a lot of friction in the spool during the last few feet of take-up. Once dialed-in, the reel was running well with braid. That said, I prefer using plain old mono in this reel. Hope this helped, thanks for stopping by!

One of my Bullet’s when I’m slowly reeling in the handle will stop occasionally as if it’s catching on something. I can continue reeling in but it’s just a little annoying. And it won’t do it consistently. Just every once in awhile. Is it possibly just dirt inside? Can you just dissemble these and rinse them out with water to remove any dirt build up or would that do more harm than good?
@CastFromTheHip3 жыл бұрын
Hard to say what the issue is….might be in the main gears or the spool area with the pick-up pins. I’d inspect for damage anywhere and give it a good cleaning. Soap and water can be used to scrub parts that are real dirty. If you use water, I’d follow through with some sort of oil and grease to avoid rust. I typically just use some sort of solvent and wipe parts down. Rem Wipes by Remington are great so is good ole WD-40 and a paper towel. After wiping up the WD, roll through with oil and grease. If it isn’t functioning properly after a cleaning, I’d contact Zebco and ask for repairs. They might accommodate. Also, local tackle shops usually have a fishing reel repair guy. Another option…
@ZampostOk3 жыл бұрын
How come most of reels are usually left hand? I’m righty but I prefer left hand reels (surf fishing). Fresh water I think it would make sense to use right hand reels.

Right out of the box, the rear cover button felt squishy vague and not solid. 2 years later i can report that Zebco missed the mark on this part. Thankfully Zebco is backing the customer reputation by sending me out a new one! The part being plasic isn't even the issue. It's that the flimsy piece of tin to engage it into cast.
