thanks for your quick response. i actually have the cutter with the cable connection, but when i opened the unit, i couldn't figure out where to connect it. We have another printer with a cutter so i looked at that one to see how it was connected, but the connectors were different on the circuit board of the one that we already had working. i was hoping to see a video or talk to someone about how to do it... i also have a LP 2844 that i thought i could put it on, but i couldn't figure that out either.

The TLP2824 and TLP2844 are single color barcode printers. You can't print a full color graphic or photo on them. What should be possible is to find a single color ribbon in something other than black. Certain barcode colors, like red, can make scanning very difficult. Test that your color codes scan before printing them all out. Contact us at POSGuys.com and we'll help you find what you need.

Yes that is possible but you'll have to design a template and load it onto the printer so it "knows" to look for the scan before printing.

Hello, our zebra lp 2824 is printing out gibberish when I try to print tags. The printer was getting stuck, printing barcodes andtags that were incomplete and then it began doing this. Can you tell me what to do try to remedy this?

It sounds like your printer is in hex dump mode and that is what is causing the gibberish. That can sometimes happen during configuration. Try powering off your printer and then turning it back on. That should hopefully reset your printer to the default mode. If that doesn't work try pushing the feed button until the label stops printing gibberish on feed and instead prints legible 'Out of DUMP'. This could take a few feed button pushes. If that doesn't work you can reset your printer to default factory settings by following the directions available here. km.zebra.com/kb/index?page=content&id=SO7130&actp=RSS The printer getting stuck and printing incomplete tags could be caused by many different issues but is likely a configuration problem. For example your printer might be looking for gaps between the labels when it should be looking for black marks. It would be best to call your tech support. If you bought the printer from POSGuys.com you can call us at 800.903.6571 and our tech support will troubleshoot with you over the phone. We offer lifetime support on the LP2824 so it doesn't matter if you purchased it 10 years ago, we'll support it. 9+ years is a long run for a barcode printer so yes there is a chance you need a new one. However it could still be possible to fix the printing issues you are seeing and we still recommend calling Zebra at 847-913-2259 to troubleshoot the skipping labels. Barcode printers are designed to last and hopefully yours will keep on going for a while. It would be wise to budget in a new barcode printer for the near future. The LP2824 is a discontinued printer which means that parts and drivers will become harder to find as time goes by. The Father's House you can add the cutter module by purchasing part number G105910-028 and installing. We added it to our 2844 printer page for you here posguys.com/barcode-printer_1/Zebra-2844_415/?src=pgyt. We don't have a cutter module in house so making a video to show how to install is unfortunately not possible. We did however do some research that might help you out. The basics of using the cutter (not installing) are on page 25 of the User Manual which you can download here posguys.com/download/tlp2844-ug-en.pdf. That doesn't give very much information on how the cutter functions though so take a look at this page by Zebra km.zebra.com/kb/index?page=content&id=SO7300&actp=LIST_RECENT which has more detail and even a diagram of how the labels fit into the cutter. (diagram support.zebra.com/cpws/docs/gseries/GX_CutterLoad.pdf - Please note that the printer they show here is the GX series but it is the same procedure for the TLP2844.) POSGuys.com i actually have the cutter module already with the cable. when i tried to install it, i didn't know which connector on the board to use. we have several other zebra printers so i opened one that already has a cutter and the circuit board looked different. i really wanted to see how to do it... if there is any way you can help, i would really appreciate it. i also have a LP 2844 that i originally wanted to put it on, but the front has a protruding part that is different from the other printers we have...
