Lay Me To Rest
Lay me to rest
this life is getting old
and I don’t do what I’m told
Suffocating
Tension all around
Hope eroding
Dying underground
Pull me up
Just to break me down
It left me broken
Blood horizon
Bright red zodiac
Pressure rising
Walls are starting to crack
Ends are violent
Cue the heart attack
You can take it all and paint it black
Stay strong
I hope there’s something after this
it won’t be long
until I take my final breath
Lay me to rest
this life is getting old
and I don’t do what I’m told
I’ve lost control
is it all in my head
well there’s no one else to blame
and I’m diving into flames
I’m dead weight
Self-debasing
Focus out of frame
Time is wasting
Can’t get out the stain
The past is chasing
To point the finger of blame
It left me broken
Fear the reaper
Target on my back
Fire breather
Pyromaniac
To burn in silence
A bloodstain on the track
You can take it all and paint it black
Stay strong
I hope there’s something after this
it won’t be long
until I take my final breath
Lay me to rest
this life is getting old
and I don’t do what I’m told
I’ve lost control
is it all in my head
well there’s no one else to blame
and I’m diving into flames
I’m dead weight
Stay strong
I hope there’s something after this
it won’t be long
before I take my final breath
I’ll see you when you get here
but please just take your time the time was mine
I’ll see you on the other side
Lay me to rest
this life is getting old
and I don’t do what I’m told
I’ve lost control
is it all in my head
well there’s no one else to blame
and I’m diving into flames
I’m dead weight

As somebody who listened to them with the original singer, then went on to love Broadcast to the World, (and subsequent albums) I cam happily say Zebrahead certainly know how to adapt to changing band members. Staying Zebrahead but allowing something new. Much better than seeing the music fade into obscurity and band consigned to history. Think I'm at the 25+ mark for number of gigs I have seen them at in the UK. Look forward for seeing them again, but in their latest iteration.

I'll say that Ali certainly brought his A-game in this and I think he has actually improved since the last album and indeed over time and I can say the same for Ed, Ben and Dan they definitely find their feet after what could be seen as an unrecoverable event for some bands I was a bit apprehensive of Adrian's sound initially the first time I heard this song it didn't hit right with how it differed so vastly from what Ali was bringing but I was willing to reserve my judgement until I heard more but second time I heard it, I'll admit it grew on me.

This is PRIME zebrahead people, PRIME zebrahead. I got into zebrahead in like 2007, Phoenix coined my middle school days like few other records would. Brain Invaders was one hell of a return to form and the songs were a BLAST to see live... but mark my words, this guy just stepped into the room to finally unleash this band's full potential. This band has BY FAR the most, all-killer-no-filler, front-to-back consistently flawless back catalogue of a discography I have ever seen. Someone pull THAT off over a span of 25 years without getting boring, SHOW ME.

@@sir0x99 It's a bit lax to say he did it to pursue country music. Yes, he *_is_* pursuing country music but there's far more to it than that. He technically was doing the country thing for a time before leaving, since 2019 officially, from the looks of it. As you said he lost his dad, leaving I assume, his mother, whom in the website of his new pursuits he identified as instilling the "Country" passion, I'm no Freud but I would say we have a case of the son wishing to please the mother because he realizes the mortality of humans. He did say that the constant out of country touring was causing a lot of stress and of course it would, they are an "American Band" with limited popularity in their home country. Similar to how Greg left to be with his family I think Matty left and was making these decisions for reason more complicated that "he wants to do country"

Loving this beyond words. I've been a fan for years and will miss Matty but this is the best the band has possibly ever sounded.

Aaaaand with the release of Lay Me To Rest, Chapter III of the amazing Zebrahead saga is officially underway. And... oh my goodness. Adrian, my guy... You fit perfectly into ZH for sure, as far as I can see. I love your singing style, the way you quill at the end of each line really reminds me of Howard Jones from Killswitch Engage, and THERE'S SCREAMING TOO, LET'S GOOOOO! I've never gotten to experience a favorite band getting a new vocalist, and I am all here for it. Welcome aboard, Adrian Estrella! I am already loving it! 🍻 Cheers to Chapter III once again! :D

Didn't stop listening to Zebra after departure of Justin, won't stop after Matty. He was great but Zebra is much more than only a vocalist. And tbf this one sounds dope. Hope Adrian will fit well ;)

I'm glad they're still going at it. Zebrahead with Matty sounded very different than Zebrahead with Justin so I'm really excited to see where this goes. But Adrian looks and sounds like a great fit.

Sounds just as good as Zebrahead always was! This song reminds me of "No Scared" by One Ok Rock, especially the screaming parts.
