it feels like the hermits decided about a month ago on when Hermitcraft season 9 is going to end, and while its still a way Tango, Scar and Bdubs have huge projects that they want to finish, so the push is on (especially for tango since he wants there be lots of time for the hermits to play decked out. Whereas the modular nature of zedvancements makes easier to ping back and forth between the two server easier

Love the video and the plush, it is so adorable. The new power upgrades means that the world is your oyster with what new automation you can do, however I do think your base is missing a small component. Over on the create Mod Subreddit people have actually built shockingly effective and/or janky engines out of nothing but deployers on a spinning contraption powered by a water wheel poking at hand cranks.
@SalamanderBSC
@SalamanderBSC Жыл бұрын
Gantries in general are just great - my first real attempt to use them was a vertical gantry that moved 4 deployers up/down via a hand crank. Why? To build windmills of course! Central block for the windmill on a bearing so it can be rotated, then build each four arms of the windmill one at a time. Finally, swap out the mechanical bearing for a windmill bearing and use a minecart assembler to pick it up and move it to where I actually wanted it. It's so disgustingly effective at mass producing windmills with just a hand crank that I didn't even think about setting up steam power for a very long time. Later on I made a gigantic open-cut mine by putting a line of rotating drills on a mechanical bearing that is moved down by a gantry that also built itself

Hey Zedaph! You can direct feed the lava. Give each blaze burner a straw!
@chtechindustries4174
@chtechindustries4174 Жыл бұрын
You know, for coolness, you should connect the pumps to one central “backup” power! Another option would be to have a “hand-boiler”, which is bellow that little 1-block gap (that’s where the center of this small boiler is), and it’s designed to have water put in by hand-crank. You then put coal in manually. You can use it to temporarily power the pumps. Once the main steam engine is going, you use a lever to disconnect the hand boiler from the pumps (via clutch), and reconnect them to the primary boilers. It’s basically a starter motor. A more advanced version would first disconnect the boiler from everything and connect the hand boiler. Push the button once, and it connects the boilers partly to the pumps and disconnects the hand boiler. Push it again and it connects to everything. Repeat. It works by using the passive heat, which is more than enough to power the pumps. When you use the hand boiler, it slows the shaft down and sends the energy up after the controller so the pumps barely turn. It can only turn one steam engine each. (1 heat from in active blaze burners). That is enough energy to power those pumps at full throttle as well as the refueling system. The button connects just those. When it then is at full power, you can reconnect everything! Now truly no water wheels! Note: another option is to make the hand boiler power a larger boiler, which can run those boilers at full power, removing the need for step 2 (first boiler might use residual heat and water), re-fuels charcoal-based large boiler, which the 9 steam engines fully power the primary steam engine till it runs. You can also use this steam engine right now to power it while setting up the self-sufficient portion!

For controlling the shaft, look into the sequenced gearshift. You can tell it to, on a red stone signal, go “x” meters forward, then “x” backwards. Put it on a timer that sends it every so often, and it now works! I would recommend 45 seconds, as lava works about 7 (or is it 14? Or 15?) minutes. That time furentees almost no downtime. Of course, if it accepts the lava even when partially fueled, then you can send it closer to the max time. Will just make your life easier!

Cooler than using the deployers is using a mechanical arm. Have one arm for each boiler, placing Lava Buckets from a depot into the blazes and then placing the empty buckets on another depot, which then goes around to be refilled with lava. You wouldn't even have to change anything when you switch to Blaze Cakes, though you could remove the second depot. Then again, you could hook up a tree farm and use charcoal instead of lava, or hell even raw wood, and that would remove the need for the second depot as well. If you set it up right, a single windmill integrated into a circular tree-farm could power said tree-farm and the water supply. Your setup is heavy enough that you would probably need multiple circle-farms to supply enough fuel and rotation.
