This song got me through one of the hardest years of my life. A break up with my girlfriend, a falling out with my family, demotion at my perceived dead-end job, and struggles with depression and meaning. I remember listening to this song in the rain as people walked by, some staring and others trying to ignore, and I didn't care. The song became my anthem and the music video video just spoke to me at one of my lowest points. A year later I was lucky enough to see Zedd live at Ile Soniq in Montreal and when the song came on , I was reminded of how beautiful life really was. And now looking back years later, I still feel the emotional fortitude the song gave to me when I was in that dark place. It is just as beautiful then, as it is now.

Those of you who don't know the meaning of this video song, then here it is (source - Wikipedia) The video intertwines five different stories together. The first is of a woman who supposedly drowned her female lover in a pool; the second involves an elderly Central American man who is journeying on an unsuccessful mountain climbing attempt; the third involves the son of a man whose home is invaded by armed robbers; the fourth involves Zedd portraying a liquor store robber who becomes hostile with the management; and the fifth depicts a distraught girl laying down on a railroad. As the song progresses, the video intercuts to scenes of family happiness, good times with friends, dancing and rejoicing before concluding the five stories. I see a lot of people saying that they liked the music video but don't understand it, so here is my take on it. If you look at the lyrics the song is talking about this individual moment in your life, that is strong and wonderful, a moment that isn't forever. It says that you are beautiful NOW as in that moment and it talks about not knowing why its happening but its beautiful so don't fight it. This song in my opinion is addressing all the problems we have within ourselves and that no matter what you problem is at that moment, you are beautiful and it shows through all of the different characters in the video. From young guys robbing a store and running free afterwords, though what they didnt was beautiful I feel that moment was to them, running with adrenaline. It also shows in the boy who chooses not shoot the man that hurt his family or in the girl who doesn't kill herself. We all have these inner struggles in our lives but we also have all had those moments in our life of utter thrill and wonder and that I feel is why we should keep living no matter what we have to deal with. We do only get to live once, and those feels are limited, so do not waste them, and do not fight them. Keep trucking on so you can live in those moments, because quite frankly, they are worth it all. You are beautiful now. So yeah, that's what i think, but who am I to say. I'm not Zedd or Jon :P

You're right. Yet I still cannot figure out what the old peasant represents. Maybe endurance? Some parts are still confusing. The only thing I understood was the relationship between the two girls and that they tried to kill themselves. Maybe the boy with the pistol represents violence/anger against society, and the young man that steals in the market comes to be some kind of deviation in a moral aspect? Cause he could have stabbed the shopkeeper, but he took a look at what he was doing and ran away. This song reminds me to "Slam the door", also by Zedd, that has a kinda deep meaning but you have to pay close attention in order to get it.
