Welcome to another installment of "This Week in EDM" where we talk about a bunch of new songs that came out this week in EDM (shocker right). Each week we explore anywhere from 25-40 new songs. Each episode is categorized and every song is talked about in ascending order from worst to best.
And please remember, this is just my opinion :)

You've really put me onto Sam Gellaitry. I'd never heard of him before, but everything you've recommended from him has been so enjoyable. New favourite for sure

I think I'm STILL holding a grudge on you for hating NF's Hope album as much as you did (you said his stuff hasn't changed, like what? lol), but I have gathered a couple curious questions here to pester you with about how you approach ranking music in 2 regards, and I really wonder what goes into your thinking behind some of the decisions you make in your opinions, all in good intention should you spare the time to read this, as I'm just a guy who does nothing with, but still loves generally the same much as you (fav artists are STAR SEED, acloudyskye, Former Hero, Kaivon, and also SVDDEN DEATH, Subtronics, Rezz, and Tokyo Machine, if you care). Thank you! I understand its your opinion and all but goodness you have something very against your bigger, more commercial big room and prog house artists lol. KSHMR, Timmy Trumpet, Blasterjaxx, Bassjackers, Zedd, Kygo, Tiesto, Armen Van Buren, Marshmello, Slushii, Steve Aoki, Quintino, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, and such, all artists that have ranked in like the bottom third for you every single week and I don't get it, what did those guys ever do to you lol. Country Roads and Boom Boom Boom this week I thought were fantastic, lots of fun. I totally think there should be room for wild big room that doesn't have to be anything crazy. I think you rank big room low for reasons that the genre isn't supposed to be or do personally, but still its all opinion, I just wanted to put that out there, see what you think if you'll respond lol. While I'm at it though as I've seen this pattern as well, why do you feel an artist's music must change and evolve, but only sometimes? You'll say "another classic song by ____ in the same style we know them to have, and it's great," like Tokyo Machine as of late, but for another you'll say "another run of the mill song by _____, still in the same style that now really needs to change" *coughAlanWalkercough* (and Rezz lately, Can You See Me was an amazing LP imo) which feels double standardy to me but I'm sure you have reasons I just don't know, so I'm curious to know them to understand your perspective more, so why must an artist's sound change to stay good? Can someone not find what is good and just do that for forever? I get the industry and music in general changes but I don't think it changes so much to require someone like AW to have to change his sound but not Tokyo Machine (though he has changed some). I'm curious about your thoughts, feel free to let me know!

I think that is the tough thing about being a music reviewer, especially reviewing projects in electronic music (which is such a broad field). Bowtied has his biases, but pretty much every music critic/reviewer has their biases. Additionally, a lot of electronic music genres (hardstyle, big room, etc.) aren't meant to be something introspective and deep often, just fun songs to get crowds moving, and often times he will put these kinds of songs into the trash/bad category because I think he expects too much from them.

hot take, but I did not like this week that much, pretty weak imo. The Neoluminum comp was pretty good, and there's definitely a good amount of decent, even great singles floating around, but overall, I think I have a much more negative view. I mean the majority of songs in "Good" for this video were meh for me.
