Actual description: In this video... After re assembling my 1100 engine, I take it out to test it and disappointment strikes again. Fortunately, this time, it is not a complete engine failure.

I just realized watching this, and having that exact same thought of "What did I do wrong, what is wrong, What's it going to take to figure out, What have I done to get here so that I can go backwards into what I've changed..." and on and on, you have to look back at it, and realize that every single test, change, modification you did, all of those things were great, and work! One silly number trusted on from one other person throws doubt into a great mechanics mind, and makes you forget all the things you're doing right! You don't give justice to just how many hours, and how much work all those things you listed off in like 15 seconds. Keep up the great work man! Really cool to watch the progression.

Yeah, thanks for the comment and pointing that out. I don't know if it is considered being humble or having self doubt, but I rarely have an issue and automatically blame others. I realize that I am human and I mess things up, so I start questioning everything I have done... I guess, when it is all said and done, I should give myself credit for doing all of those things right, haha... When you hack parts off of your stator, for example... you can't be 100% sure how it's going to affect things, because it's not a path well traveled. Hopefully the rest of the summer goes fairly smoothly 🤟

Dang I am glad you finally got it figured out. Stuff like that drives me nuts. You figure that you bought something from a professional and expect it to work properly. Only to find that you have to fully figure it out yourself. I get that stuff happens but sheesh

Yeah... I'm not really sure to think about the whole thing, because I told him twice for sure, maybe 3 times that it was set to 48, and he didn't react .... how one would expect. Either he didn't know, or he just wasn't telling me. The folks at Zeeltronic got back to me with very precise info both times I contacted them. The sad thing is, if I came blank, I would have figured it out much quicker, but I'm not like " I know more than this guy and more than the manual" haha... Oh well... it's sorted now. Lesson learned.

Thanks... I think it's going to be a very impressive ski if all goes well this season. Should have parts to do a crank rebuild some time this week or next. Should make for a good video as well as give me some peace of mind.

That thing is going to look sweet in 5 years when you cover the top in carbon fiber! Those waves crashing over your not working ski reminds me of my life. Note to self. Zeeltronics cdi confuses people smarter than me about that type of thing. I had my issues the last couple weeks that I finally figured out after looking at every wrong thing. Makes me wonder if everybody that swaps an 1100 goes through the same type of tinkering process.

Haha... 5 years... you're being optimistic. Now that I have other projects, the carbon will have to wait, haha. I may made a video in installing the Zeeltronic separately. It's not at all hard, and I think it's a great product. I just had a odd experience.

Hi Joel, great to see you figure out the problems and not do any Damage to the engine ,can't wait to see it on the water, can't wait to see you modify the engine once again, just wondering is the 900 stator the same as the 1100 stator because I have decided to put an 1100 engine into my 900 Hull,the wiring on the stator is different but looks the same ,everything else fits, but I have decided to put a set of 1100 carbys on it as well to suit the engine, thanks for your response, Cheer's Adrian
@JoelArseneaultYouTube
@JoelArseneaultYouTube Жыл бұрын
Hello Adrian. Edit : Yes... the 900 stator and 1100 stator will work on either engine or either cdi ... they may have different part numbers from the factory, but they will work. The 1100 and 900 CDI have a different timing curve, so altho they will work, the correct one should be used. I'm also glad I got it running and didn't damage the engine. I really need to do some riding and tuning before I do any more mods, just to make sure it's okay, but I really want to start doing more mods right away... I have my new head almost completed, but I think I will wait a week or so to install it and do some tuning first.

Yes... it was four stroking for sure, at idle and likely just above idle. The timing was off by almost 30º ... I'm surprised it ran at all.

Sometimes you need to be smarter than the manual.😂
@JoelArseneaultYouTube
@JoelArseneaultYouTube Жыл бұрын
Yeah, haha, this is true. Part of the "problem" here is that this is not a CDI that is dedicated to this engine. It is meant to be put on multiple engines, so they have to make the manual somewhat vague... however, I'm still concerned about it "decreases electronic ignition advance stability" when over 45º ... I'd like to know what that means... they have an installation diagram for my engine, so that indicates they intend for it to be used on my engine... 🤷‍♂
@lanceulbrich6249
@lanceulbrich6249 Жыл бұрын
@@JoelArseneaultKZbin I'm going to guess they are talking about the fact that the spark time is basically a guestimation calculated by the rpm of the engine the farther you get away from that trigger point the more it has to guestimate the position of the engine. Being that you can do what you want bc you are telling it what you have you could always just turn the stator or perhaps just weld on a different tab on the flywheel to get that delay down. I have had to do that in the past to make things work together that aren't suppose to. I doubt it will be an issue but if you wanted it to be less of a guess that would take care of it. More modern stuff uses many sensing teeth and a cam sensor in a four stroke that gives the timing more accurate data. I'm not sure they may have done it tho bc the position is in a better spot to make it have to guess least w the 3 cylinder engine
@JoelArseneaultYouTube
@JoelArseneaultYouTube Жыл бұрын
@@lanceulbrich6249 Oh, yest... That makes perfect sense. The 75º delay allows for the crank to actually be at a slightly different speed / in a different position... I guess that's why a 12 point reluctor with 3 teeth missing is a better setup than just 3 bumps. I could always move the trigger, but I think it will be okay. It uses the ends of the reluctors to fire on start up, so you have to leave the end point the same and change where it starts, I guess... Seems like a lot of work, haha. You'd really have to load test it with a timing light to know for sure what was happening, I guess.
