In 2023 I got the Zeiss Batis Sonnar 85mm 1.8 T* used for 520 Euro (taxes included) in excellent condition. It is a great Lens and if aperture 1.8 is enough for you and if you want a light weigt 85mm Lens, then the Zeiss Batis Sonnar 85mm 1.8 T* will be a very good buy used.

That’s something we can definitely agree on! The Zeiss Batis 85mm is an excellent lens, especially at that price.

When someone says something is old and was made in 2015, I realize just how old I am. That lens is still a baby compared to those lenses made in the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s.

Time flies :( You're right-2015 is modern compared to those vintage lenses. The Zeiss 85mm is still a champ and will continue to hold its own for years to come!

Great now I want to sell my Sigma 85mm f1.4 ART for this lens. I wont but sure want to use this lens for a weekend. Great review.

Thanks for the kind words! The Sigma 85mm f/1.4 ART is an incredible lens. The sharpness, character, and that f/1.4 advantage make it a classic. The Zeiss 85 has its own magic with signature rendering and build quality, though. If you get to try it for a weekend, you’ll see what I mean. But honestly, your Sigma is still top-tier and you get to enjoy that f1.4!

@NiclasNilsson89 yes its amazing and love the size. And to be honest I love my Zeiss 55mm f1.8 and use it even more then the 85. You have experience with that lens? Like on paper it sounds like a overpriced nifty50 but boy is it not.
@NiclasNilsson8926 күн бұрын
@@classic.cameras I haven’t had the chance to try the 55mm f1.8 yet, but I’ve heard only amazing things about it! I might even pick one up soon. Its very sharp right? Sounds like it punches above its weight for what it is on paper! There is something special about the zeiss lenses🔥

@@NiclasNilsson89 I actually sold my Sigma 50mm f1.4 ART after buying it. The bokeh was great. The size was small. And it has 3D pop. Paid around $400 usd for mine used. Worth trying.

Viltrox AF 85mm f/1.8 is based on a similar optical formula to this Batis, but the Viltrox's rendering looks much better than the Batis, Vilrox's bokeh is smoother and it has very low cats eye, which is rare.
@NiclasNilsson8924 күн бұрын
Interesting points! The Viltrox does have impressive bokeh and minimal cats-eye effect for its price, which is rare. That said, 'better rendering' is subjective and really depends on personal taste. I personally love the Batis for its color rendering and contrast. In the end, it all comes down to preference and shooting style!
