When you're creating a section and then creating a feature (especially when generating a curve around the whole part) you can go into the Hierarchy tab and turn off the cad model leaving only the Sectional geometry and then you can select it much easier without having to rotate the part around and around chasing each section of the line while holding down the CTRL key.

I have a question. Now, my trainer only showed me how to make 2d curves, as that is all he knows, and his notes from the previous programmer (who was mostly self taught) advised to UNCHECK the box for "Re-calculate Nominal Geometry" when creating circles from 2d curves. So I've been doing that, but now I've seen your video and also another one from Elliott Matsuura where they did NOT uncheck that box. And it looks like they've been able to generate circles and lines that appear where they should. So am I doing it wrong by unchecking the box? Maybe my instructor misunderstood the programmer when taking down his notes. I suspect this has something to do with the fact that my 2d lines which I've taken from the curves have not been useful at all when I try to get distance characteristics from them.

That's the problem with people who show you how to do something because they were self taught and that's the way they've always done it. I had the same problem with the guy who trained me. I didn't realize he was showing me the wrong thing until I went to a training class.

They are options, you will need to purchase the add ins from Zeiss.

Why use a 3D curve for this? I have been using 2D Curve for years. I get the same results but everybody uses 3d in these videos with no explanation.
