Thank y'all for a fantastic performance and Danny for a superb arrangement. That counter melody with the horns at 1:33 is simply epic. I also liked the little references to Hyrule castle at 1:53 and 2:01.

Amazing as always! Love the musicianship you all display. I have to wonder: How much harder is it to compose for so many more instruments? It seems like it might be more of a pain to have that many different voices.
@dannymusic3 жыл бұрын
I have a lot of thoughts about this, but a lesson that always stuck out to me is that in an orchestration class I had in undergrad, the professor would play a piece of orchestra music and then ask us "how many *things* are there?" Exactly what constituted a "thing" would vary, but the consensus answer was never more than 4 (and usually only 2-3). So I'd say even though the ensemble is scaled up, there are still the same number of "things" as there are in our quintet music. The difference is that 16-piece brass ensemble allows those things to be be painted in broader strokes and makes certain textures possible that wouldn't be otherwise. Happy to elaborate more on Discord if you'd like!
