I think it looks like Phantom ornamentation, as in, Phantom Hourglass and the Smash B-move. I'm gonna say, the Link here is Shadow Link from another world who tried to shoot Zelda for being a fake. She was already taken here while captured in the crystal. This is expanding on Four Swords Adventures.

Im still thinking this is the DT Crazily enough, for those who thought OoT Zelda being crystallized was a plothole for the downfall timeline explanation, you can headcanon that before Link died (assuming he actually dies during the fight) he managed to break Zelda out of Ganondorf's crystal via the Light Arrows. Considering Nintendo did it here anyway.

I saw a video that had Cadence of Hyrule in the timeline in between A Link Between Worlds/ Triforce Heroes and the OG LOZ. Based on the info from that video my bet is this game takes place just before or after Cadence of Hyrule.

I'm personally banking on somewhere in the neighborhood of Link's Awakening and the Oracle duology, most likely after the Oracles. The Oracles, Four Swords Adventures, and now Echoes of Wisdom are the only Zelda titles which feature Deku Scrubs, River Zora, Lake Zora, AND Gerudo. The Oracles are also the only previous entries in the series to feature a Deku Tree-esque character in 2D and in the Downfall Timeline. It's still quite early, so I'll wait to see further details that are revealed over the next few months leading up to the release, as the ReDeads are already a factor I can't quite account for.

@@JaidynReiman It can't be, there was no incarnation of Link between OOT and ALTTP, which is why the Imprisoning war happened, and if Ganon had done all this prior to the split, there's no way the king in OOT would've trusted Ganondorf.

@@jacobydefense6432 It was the Knights of Hyrule in LTTP's backstory. Nobody could wield the Master Sword. ...oh look, Link doesn't have the Master Sword! But Link in LTTP was specifically intended to be descended from the Knights of Hyrule and in many games he is a Knight. Its still possibly later anyway, but we can't rule out before. OOT used to be the origin of the series and later it was TMC and then SS. And Link is always injected into these timeframes. Don't forget that OOT already was supposed to be the Imprisoning War. Miyamoto literally said in interviews before OOT that OOT's story described the Imprisoning War, but Link still got the MS anyway. So it was a retcon. And they retconned it again later. They retcon lore all the time in the series.

@@JaidynReiman Yes minor details are retconned but never in such a way has a retcon been made before that made the timeline not make sense anymore; and don't say "BOTW and TOTK retconed Hyrule's founding" because those games either aren't part of the timeline or are so far removed from the rest of the series that it's not even the same Kingdom of Hyrule. I think that putting it before OOT would completely make no sense because Ganondorf was trusted by the King in OOT, if this game occurred I think that the king would be a little suspicious of Gerudo males. Putting it during the imprisoning war doesn't make sense either, because it's all but certain that Zelda will have at least the Triforce of Wisdom in this game, but during the Imprisoning War, Ganon had the full Triforce. The only way I can see this being before ALTTP is if the split was moved to Minish Cap, one reality where Vatti is sealed and Four Swords, Four Swords Adventures, and Echoes of Wisdom happen followed by the Downfall timeline, and one reality where Vatti is destroyed, where Ocarina of Time Occurs followed by the Child Timeline without FSA and the Adult Timeline.

And Hebra is still there in the same spot complete with Spectacle Rock (LTTP Light World Death Mountain was called Hebra in Japan). Its snowy now, but tbf, LTTP Light World Mountain probably should have been snowy to begin with anyway. It is surrounded by clouds, though, which it was in LTTP as well. Also don't forget that Lake Hylia is still in the same spot with the same island in the middle.

Tis difficult to say if it's downfall or child timeline, but it can't be adult for one simple reason: Ganondorf is gone forever in the Adult Timeline. With Daphnes Nohansen's wish upon the Triforce, Hyrule was sealed forever. But what's often glossed over is that Ganondorf isn't able to reincarnate in Adult: he's not actually dead, just sealed in stone by the Master Sword, which is further sealed by the Ocean, protected by the Triforce Wish. So definitively not Adult. It's totally possible that it's just the Child Timeline in which the Four Sword was broken or forgotten or something, or that it's far, far after A Link Between Worlds but before Zelda 1.

I get that the Zelda team really doesn't care about the timeline that much, but trying to place this game in the Adult Timeline would utterly destroy any shred of credibility the timeline has left. Like I'm sorry, but you can't look at the context of EVERYTHING in this game and ever think the game could be set in New Hyrule. This is all about the sword, which can simply be a brand new sword unrelated to any prior sword and it simply loosely resembles a past as sword. The biggest tell of where this game is set is Ganon's appearance. Period. But also the fact that its literally the same Hyrule as LTTP but expanded beyond the borders of LTTP's Hyrule. The timeline placement is an afterthought, but they usually try and think a bit about what the story says and where the game is set. The only reason why FSA was placed after Twilight Princess is because the Gerudo treat Ganondorf like a new person. That's it. FSA internally however treats itself like a direct, almost-immediate sequel to Four Swords. Four Swords was originally supposed to be set before OOT but in the game's marketing it was treated as being adjacent to LTTP in some way. While the games do reference past games and there is a loose timeline, a lot of placements are haphazardly thrown together despite going against the lore the games themselves present. There is no place for this game in any time period that isn't somewhere near LTTP.
