Heard this live, by collegium Marianum @ the old music festival Utrecht NL. Amazing, Zelenka always strikes me. Thank you for the upload

Apart from being one of the top three Baroque composers, for me, Zelenka was also such a musical crossroads of style. Later on from this he could sound like pre-embryonic Mozart, in the Gloria of the Missa Votiva he constructs the earlier movements episodically with huge full blooded interjections during solos like a Monteverdi Vespers movement, and he could write in the old polyphonic style also. Here , for the first time, during the last of these three arias, I was also reminded of Purcell, and i can't quite say why, except for that he was such a good composer and I'm such a lousy musicologist.

From some of Zelenka's earliest known works! :) - Immisit Dominus pestilentiam 1709, Attentide et videte 1712. Great choice of background image, the Klementinum in Prague being likely where Zelenka studied and wrote these pieces. Stunningly beautiful

Thanks. It amazes me that Zelenka's style already was so personal and distinct in his early years (His skills at counterpoint were also excellent!). The performances by Collegium Marianum & Co. are as always fantastic!
