Didn’t Ganondorf’s plan revolve entirely around letting Link collect the three artifacts and open the sacred realm for him? He’s also done stuff like this in the past. @@jerryborjon He assumed that Link hold the key to the Sacret Realm and that was after seeing him for the second time. When he first saw him, he only saw him being next to Zelda and nothing else. Ninjaananas - Ganondorf counted on Link getting all three artifacts, including the forest one which he gets at the start of the game, before they even meet for the first time. If you've played Ocarina of Time, in the Kakariko Graveyard, there is a tomb you can enter by pulling back one of the tombstones. Inside the hole is a large area with a skull, some horse bones and a chest with a Hylian Shield inside. Rocks also block further back into the tomb, which actually lead to a small fairy fountain. My own headcanon is that the tomb belongs to Link's father and he and his steed were buried there after being killed in battle during the Hyrulean Civil War. To honor his memory, his trusty shield was buried with him, locked away in a chest in the center of the tomb. It makes it more impactful and meaningful to me if I think of Link getting his father's shield and becoming a hero with it at his side, seeing him grow into it even.

@@romulosarzenski Actually it kinda is. The upside down triangular space in the middle is just a result of the way the triangles are put together. It was cute at first, but those perpetuating the 'theory' even now don't know what they're talking about. Honestly, you want something for it to mean? It's a representation of Hyrule's counterpart in Lorule, where everything, even the Triforce, is an inverse of Hyrule. The space in Lorule's Triforce is, in turn, a representation of its counterpart in Hyrule. In this way the empty space in the middle gets filled in in a kaleidoscope fashion by infinitely repeating alterations between the Lorule and Hyrule triforce, each getting progressively smaller to fill the gap in the center of the previous, and yet in turn the Triforce you start with could always theoretically be just another step in the kaleidoscope, with a larger inverse Triforce to see if you pan back. If there were to be an inverted triangle as a fourth piece, then first off the pieces would have been called the Tetraforce of Power, Wisdom, Courage, and blank instead of the Triforce of Power, Wisdom, and Courage, but the idea of the Sacred Triangle being a scale that weighs the heart would be off-balance itself to begin with since and inverse triangle would have to represent something that fundamentally opposes the three forces of Power, Wisdom, and Courage. And no, the space in the center is not the 'True Force to govern all' that is granted to those who have the three forces in balance when they touch the Triforce. That's the bigger triangle identical in orientation to the pieces that the three together form.

I'm convinced Majora's Mask is about Link processing Navi's death/disappearance in a dream, after getting knocked out in the Lost Woods looking for her. The entire game is about processing the loss of a loved one, hell even the "main" villain is processing the loss/abandonment of his friends. All of the characters, objects and areas resemble the things he encountered in OOT but a bit warped, similar to how dreams replay and draw from memories. The time element may be how many days he was unconscious for? I'm unsure on that front but that game reeks of grievance and acceptance in a dream, it's even set in a place called Termina, it literally derives from the word Terminate/Terminus. I have a feeling that the dream is what convinced Link to stop looking for Navi once he woke up. It's like that final kick in the butt that made him really come to terms with Navi leaving.
@CuriousKey4 жыл бұрын
Nice theory! I think it does a better job of incorporating Navi than the link is dead theory. Twilight Princess doesn't even directly contradict the link is dead theory either, as if Majora is just a symptom of the process, then the whole scene where link searches for Navi in the forest is also part of the death-dream, otherwise the Skullkid couldn't have turned up there. Link could easily have lived a long and full life, but dreamed himself as a child once he died, which isn't exactly uncommon. Also even if you take it as a contradiction, and this is an important bit: Nintendo could easily have intended the link is dead theory as the canon interpretation of Majora's Mask, and then went on to write Twilight Princess anyway - or are we going to take Nintendo as never writing contradictions into Zelda lore?

There's also the fact that after the stone is recovered Ruto says she dropped it as she was feeding Jabu Jabu because she was startled. She also says that crawls around inside him all the time, and has been doing so since she was little. We can conclude that she was too embarrassed to admit that she sent it, especially when you consider what she says after defeating the Barinade: "I was just lonely, that's all! Just a little!" The bottle in and of itself is a rather complex mystery. There is the question of how she got it out to begin with, but far more interesting is its journey. Assuming it floated downstream in more or less a direct line to where it is found, it would have to pass by King Zora (without getting stuck on the one fence it has to pass), the diving game operator, and at least one or two other Zoras. I wonder how absolutely no one spotted it. It's possible that it passed during the night when they were asleep, but that logic fails pretty quickly as Ruto would have been deemed missing by then. The search would have started immediately and gone on into the night. What about the waterfall that dumps into Zora's River? It could not have floated that way when you consider the route. It would have to go down the river, get through north Hyrule Field, the moat, Gerudo Canyon, and then halfway across the lake while avoiding getting stuck on shallow bits and at least three grates. That leaves the lake shortcut, yet as I said that is equally absurd due to the amount of people it has to pass. Perhaps we shouldn't over think things like this. I'd never heard the other two theories before.

The debunking of the Desert Pyramid in OOT kinda makes sense if you think about it: This game came out back when CG animation was just starting out in video games, so the majority of the textures/shapes were based on very rough polygons. That shape seen when using the Song of Storms, as described in this video is a good example!

The problem with Ganondorf writing Ruto's letter is how is he supposed to know Ruto was inside Jabu Jabu in the first place?

I think Ganondorf would have probably been smart enough to adapt his writing style for the letter to make it seem like the Zora princess would have written it herself. Regardless, I still think that she probably wrote it herself and was embarassed. It fits her character.

Can you tackle the Sages are Dead theory from Ocarina of Time? Too many Zelda channels state it as true, imo. I just don't see any evidence of them being dead.
@ShadowSkyX4 жыл бұрын
Sacred realm = heaven. Saria - it is destiny you and I can't exist in the same world Darunia - this medallion contains the fire spirits - and our friendship. Please take it. Ruto - I confess my love to you...but I can't offer that now... Impa - protect the princess on our behalf Nabooru - if only I knew what a handsome man you'd become... These sound like regrets of the dead to me. Think about it, you met back up with Ruto in Jabu jabu's belly, and she leaves with you...and no one does that as an adult. _No one._ If you play Saria's song before getting the hookshot, you get a rather chilling conversation - or rather a plea for help, begging link to come save her because the forest temple is full of monsters; she is trapped. And I think i know what happened to her: the last Poe sister you face in the forest temple. The color purple is the color of death; death and four are pronounced very very similarly in Japanese (that's why the MM title screen is colored so, not because link is dead, but the game deals with the grief of losing everyone in oot, particularly navi). She is the fourth Poe, she can make three bodies... having 4 in total and she surrounds you. She is laughing at you when you see her. Maybe she's laughing because she thinks you were done in. Maybe she's laughing at something you don't know. Maybe shes laughing at some private joke. Or maybe she's laughing... because you were too late to save Saria and now she's going to do the same to you. She is the inevitably truth that Link denies as reality. Darunia was too far away for Navi to hover around. Pretty convient, but now I suspect he might've already died by the time you showed up, and his spirit, unable, unwilling to move on, stayed just outside the boss door so he could relay the situation, so his people could be saved in his stead - the room which we never him physically go in. Only the sound of the door open and shut, locking behind him. I suspect he sealed the door with magic or his soul until you got the proper key. It seems bizarre to me he wouldn't free his people first. Water magic in media is ofren portrayed to cast illusions, show reflections of the heart etc...after all, sheik doesn't specify she saved Ruto's _life,_ just that she managed to save her from under the ice. I believe the curse trapped their souls within the thick ice sheets, and it was not a simple insta freeze over. She speaks as though the other zora are alive, yet her father and shop keeper are the only ones we see at the domain. "Saving" is interpretive in this case. In order to "save them all" and the domain, the curse has to be broken. Again she does not explicitly state to wanting to save their lives. Just to "save them", like saving their souls from icy imprisonment. She could not move on until they were free. Impa's...self explainitory. The way shiek speaking of her, Impa was alive when she went in, only to likely die to bongo bingo or some gruesome way. But given the hellish nightmare place the shadow temple is - after all, the boat and the river are for spirits being taken to the afterlife; basically it's the underworld. Fitting and a good segway into the spirit temple. You watched Nabooru die right in front of you. Now as a kid, I thought she was transported somewhere else, after all they were supposedly going to brainwash her again and make her work for Ganondorf a little longer. _However,_ I believe it was the German? Translation that had Koume and Kotake called "the killer grannies". Raura is the very first sage you meet. The owl though, never speaks to link as an adult. It is pretty clear he is able to see outside the flow of time...and someone would likely have to be in a higher plane...or in heaven, to know what Link has been doing or that's he's matured as an adult. The only place you see Rauru himself in the overworld in any capacity...is hyrule castle. He is the king of hyrule. Fitting, that the castle was attacked first, and he's conviently the first sage you meet? Navi at the end...was a spirit heading into the light: her task to aid link during his quest was done. She could move on...except link couldn't accept that. OoT is the adventure, the mask. MM is the unveiling of what was there all along in the first game - mainly through the clues in the dungeon and temple design, but even the difference between the child and adult items. The trauma from the experience, the deaths he was unable to prevent, that he was too late for or helplessly watched happen right in front of him. The emotional scars it created that never healed. It is why Majora's Mask is as dark of a game as it is.
@kenhollis61974 жыл бұрын
I always thought it was likely that they had died because they were all in immediate danger before you reach the boss and they all seem to vanish. Saria is inside her temple and is calling for help because of the monsters. Darunia enters the boss room but is gone when you get there, plus he expresses his doubt because he doesn't have the hammer. Ruto floats upward and vanishes. Impa goes into that hellish temple but is gone. Nabooru, of course gets blasted by the witches. I know they say they're enslaving her again, but she just got the crap slashed out of her by Link. The above post is much more elaborate, but you get my point.
@saraross83964 жыл бұрын
@@ShadowSkyX Rauru does speak to Link as an adult. It is only once, outside the Spirit Temple. We never see the King of Hyrule, nor is his name given, so do you have any proof that he is the King outside of him appearing in Ganon's Castle like the other sages do when you dispel the barrier? All the other kings that we see, from the first in A Link to the Past to the most recent in Breath of the Wild, wear a crown. Rauru doesn't wear one. It does look grim for some, but the sages are very much alive. Nabooru certainly does not, as you put it, "die before your eyes." As a child we see her sucked into a magic vortex, and as an adult she vanishes in a flash of light after they say, "Let's brainwash her again." Why would they bother with that if they were just going to kill her? Lastly, how do you explain all of them, except Rauru, appearing on Death Mountain during the credits? They look very much alive, and also have none of the indicators that they are ghosts. Outside of the general ghost enemy version (usually similar to a Boo), the Zelda series has three ways, used either singly or in combination, to identify a character that is no longer among the living. They are either transparent while sometimes fading in and out, carrying a lantern, or have a bluish, greenish light(s) flickering about them. Occasionally they'll have a halo. To use an example from the game, Dampe will suffice. We absolutely know he dies. He has a halo, carries a lantern, and while to my recollection he isn't very transparent, he does fade in and out a bit. The sages have none of these, not even the halos which even the Twinrova get.

He appears as a child, cause that was the turning point in his life, when he became a child again (at the end of OOT) and Navi went away. "Japanese, as a language, has a lot more depth to it" - nothing could be farther from the truth about Japanese. It's a much more ambiguous language than English, and you have to rely on the context of situations heavily to even understand what's being talked about. The fact that, in the original translation, "Ruto" uses regal speech, does not disprove, to any degree, that it was written by Ganondorf.
@skytstrax4 жыл бұрын
As much as I agree that Ganondorf did not write the letter in the bottle, I don't think the theory is debunked simply by saying it uses language typically used by zoras and Ruto. If Ganondorf indeed tried to forge a letter from Ruto, you'd expect he would do his best to imitate the language Ruto would use.

@havens15154 жыл бұрын
The bigger question about the letter (at least to me) is how did she get the letter out of Jabu Jabu if she couldn't get herself out? And how did it get all the way to Lake Hylia if Jabu Jabu is in the water behind Zora's Domain? It seems to be heavy enough to sink (you have to dive for it) and the area with Jabu Jabu is incredibly deep (as you can find out as adult link with the iron boots) so it's extremely unlikely to have just drifted to the lake, even if the 2 bodies of water are connected (which I don't think they are. I'm pretty sure that Jabu Jabu's area is isolated from the rest of Zora's domain, which flows to the lake.)
