Hi Scott, Thanks for the great videos!! I have a question: I didn't understand why the error popped up at 3:27 in the video? What did you do in order to get that error? Were you trying to change the semi-diameter value ? Also, later why later you were able to change the semi-diameter value to 5 or 4 without getting any subsequent error?

He changed aperture type from 'Entrance pupil diameter' to 'float by stop size' in general tab. It means that aperture will be automatically adjusted by the value of semi-diameter of STOP surface, so the value in Semi-diameter of STO must be manually fixed by a user. It is just guidance rather than error. So..Later when he entered '5', the entrance pupil diameter was automatically changed to '21.880' without error messages. Am i right?

Hi scott, I want to learn the design parameters of a telescope (reflecting type). Could you refer some materials where I can learn the same?

If you right click the lens layout, in the bottom left there is a radial button "Marginal and Chief Ray".... this should draw just the paraxial rays. If you mean laser beams by the term "Paraxial Gaussian beams" I have not covered that yet, I'd prefer to defer the answer until I am better prepared! But let me know:)

Hi Scott, You're tutorials have been very useful for my kickstart in Zemax, thankyou! I have to design 2 surfaces, one a trapezoidal shape and the other a non-regular octagon..could you possibly give me some guidance on how to design these as simply as possibly? Many thanks!

Hi Scott, thanks for the videos! Do you know how to draw paraxial gaussian beams in the designs?
