The only thought that I had was to burn wood but you are right - get a Nano. The stainless by itself is only 2 ounces more than the titanium. I love your videos and try to find a video on something I am interested in buying before I buy it. Thanks and keep it up.

Glad you finally got around to one of my favorites I mentioned on one of your puck stove videos. It follows. I built an alcohol stove with an old Daisy pellet can I had laying around in 2017ish. I used some welders' carbon felt instead of fiberglass to absorb the liquid, no spills, some screening from a tea leaf strainer to hold the felt in place. It holds 2 oz. or 60 ml of alcohol and with 1 oz of fuel will burn over 15 minutes. I use a Zen Camps wind screen/burner that works with alcohol or solid fuel and, though not designed that way, have used a small twig fire inside. I like things that can work with multiple options. At 76 years old, I like things that work well rather than being the lightest thing in the world. Function over form as it were.7

I had this stove in my cart for a long time. Just was not sure about it and I never pulled the trigger on it. Then I watched your video and decided to go ahead and dryer it. But just like you said, you made the video and they were gone. About a month ago they became available again. I ordered it and 2 weeks later it finally showed up. I have been intrigued by triangle shaped stoves for a long time. The first one I bought was the Expedition Research. I like it and still use it, but it has one flaw. It will fall apart in use if you bump it. I then bought the Trangia Triangle. Expensive but almost perfect. Almost because I use a lot of solid fuel, and I had to sacrifice a baking sheet to make a platform for my fuel tabs. The Esbit came next. Another that I do like, but I find it fiddly to put together and it is easily bent. When the Zen Camps pot stand showed up I could not wait to try it. It went together easily, is solid after together, and works equally well regardless of if I decide to use my Trangia, burner or solid fuel tabs. Plus it packs away very small, even smaller than the Esbit, Plus it cost less than either of my other triangle pot stands. You said in the video to prove you wrong. Well, I can not. It is perfect!

I do think this is a good deal, but yeah, it's a Firebox Nano Stainless with Stanley Two Cup and Two Bowl cooksets in my car camping vanlife camp kitchen. One fuel type you forgot to mention on the Firebox Namo is charcoal briquettes. Those aren't my go to, but if you are camping in a cold place with snow when everything is wet, a charcoal briquette is not a bad option because all the twigs are wet and other types of fuel may not work as well in low temps.

Hey Ernie, you can dip the little removable stand in the stove alcohol take out, it will hold some liquid in the tiny holes just enough to light it and use it to light the stove safely if you don’t have a long range lighter like yours. I have this and absolutely love it. “Don’t be blaming me if it runs out of stock”, love the comment and so true.😂

I have a love hate relationship with it. I have to use a wider pot to get good results. But nomatter what I do, it makes any stove extremely fuel hungry due to its breath ability. I do love how compact it is and lite weight. I want to love it I really do. I’m going on two years with it. It’s definitely not for smaller pots pots. The flame goes out around it.

I picked it up a while ago hoping it would be a cheap alternative to the Trangia Triangle. It works fine with Esbit cubes but with a Trangia, it gets way too hot since there's no gap between the burner and the stand walls. With the Trangia Triangle there's more space.

This is slightly modified Trangia Triangle knock-off solving some of its limitations and probably cheaper. I personally would go with the Bushbox Ultralight, which looks more or less the same but is designed to work as a twig stove as well - has an opening on one side and the bottom plate is larger, so that the fire doesn't fall through. It is by far my favourite ultralight stand/stove. Use it usually with Toaks syphon burner, which together with a small bottle and a windscreen fit into my 700ml Snow peak mug. It's always good to have real fire as a back up. Thanks for the video, I appreciate you keeping us up to date with all these new devices.

@@jarmosalonen2068 I'm using the x-boil FS75-85 in my UL tea/coffee kit these days. Like the ZEN the Bushbox UL is a bit more flexible regarding different pot sizes. The xBoil is impressive, but expensive compared to the ZEN, that is also unavailable in Switzerland.

I added one of these to each of my three Trangia 25 kits as an auxiliary burner stand. Haha in before the sell out! The quality seems pretty good as one would expect from the Japanese glamping market. The ultimate would be one where the simmer ring is more functional. …like a triangle or the clikstand. Or maybe a stainless mojo stand…Oh well.

Ernie, have you reviewed the Bushbox Ultralight Outdoor Pocket Stove? It's very similar to this but also has wood-burning capability. Ive owned one for years. Its pretty good, however, it has two main cons in my opinion. The first is that the aperture for wood burning, plus the laser cut-outs in the other two sides, seriously reduce the stand's wind-shielding capability when used with a burner. The second is that the tabs to balance your pots on are sited to one end of each of its side, as opposed to the centre. This puts them further apart so it's difficult to balance smaller pots on them safely. Conversely, larger pots have greater stability, but I only ever use this stand with a SS mug on it. Having the pot tabs placed centrally, as in this Zen Camps stand, would definitely work better for my needs. For stability and peace of mind, I resorted to filing the pot tabs off so my mug now sits level on top of the stand. Anyway, another stove/stand to take a look at if you've not done so already.

My immediate thought is use of the simmer ring on the trangia or similar stoves. These are £25 on Amazon UK, the Trangia Triangle is £28. It looks a great design tho if you use a bigger pot
@mattymatt6225
@mattymatt6225 4 ай бұрын
The Trangia Triangle is bomb proof and very sturdy. it takes all the trangia products including the gas burner and looks like you may be able to use twigs. If you put in the gel pot you have the perfect height for the Toaks Syphon burner and other smaller Burners, larger burners like the swirling flame will fit in the bottom. To use smaller pots just get a tent peg and bend it around the three top stays, if you get it right it will fit on top of the pot stays or lower down on the shoulder of the stays, giving you two levels of height for your cup

If you want a very coarse adjustment for simmer, I have a second trangia simmer ring I have drilled the rivet off to remove the sliding plate to leave just the one size hole. That's usually enough for most cooking I do. I can then take the plate part with me to stop the flame if I want and it still nests together.

I had to wait 3 months once for an item to appear again, not Amazon... I've seen this little stove stand... wondered about the strength of the tabs at the top with all the tiny holes I think it would be just as good without all those holes that was the killer for me...
