Languages are fucked. "Sound it out" does not work for English, which some teachers do use for people to learn, but then you have silent letters and its fucking insane.
@DubiousDubs10 ай бұрын
In fairness, the inconsistencies mostly come from the fact that english is not one language. If you look at the words that came from the same language and are used in english, those are almost always consistent. The thing that throws off the consistency is how many languages english took words from. It isnt one language, its 8 in a rrench ciar pretending to be one.

Student: Trying to spell the word 'Colonel' and struggling Teacher: "Sound it out." Student: 😒 Fun fact: The word "gnome" fucked me up as a child because I saw it before I ever heard it, and could not for the life of me figure out how to make a "g" sound turn into an "n" sound and make it sound natural. Was pissed to learn that the g was silent.
@insanityplea550210 ай бұрын
@@warningdeadinside2537 I argued with my teacher on a spelling test over the word Knife. Same teacher would always say "Sound it out" so when Nife was wrong we got into an argument that ended up with me waiting for a parent to pick me up. Then said parent arguing with the teacher and office staff cause "Sound it out" is one of the stupidest advices you can give to someone learning English (and probably a lot of other languages if they too do silent letters which is mentally handicapped to do to your own language).

Technically, the reverse harem definition of "when a woman loves her 1st/2nd/3rd wives..." isn't correct. A harem is a man with several female wives, while the typical reverse harem is a woman with several male husbands. We can think up names for the "man with many male husbands" variant and the "woman with many female wives" variant. The former can easily be called a "sausage fest", while the latter might be called a "dogpile"...
