Zenfinity #13: Nova Eclipse (Score: 75) - Bejeweled Twist

Thirteenth Eclipse of wandom's Custom Challenge Pack "Zenfinity"
Clear as many Supernovas as you can while dealing with Bombs
A little anecdote: I was discussing with wandom about this challenge and at the time, the minimum spawn value for Bombs was 3. I warned him that if you play carefully enough, you can never lose, so he changed the minimum spawn value to 1. And now you can see the result
Yes indeed, it does take me over 40 minutes to score just 75 points in this Eclipse, and that includes the beginning where I went very fast, so overall I can say that my scoring rate in the later part is barely over one point per minute, which is ridiculous. The best strategy seems to be:
- avoid making unnecessary matches until you have a 100% reliable escape plan, which in my case is essentially being one move away from clearing the whole board while also triggering so called "amnesty"
- then, carefully start farming Supernovas
- finally, detonate everything while triggering amnesty (or in a cascade), and start over
In a way, it's quite certain that no one is ever going to reach maxout in this Eclipse. Even if you could make one Supernova per second, then you would need to spend over 60 years to get to maxout. And the fact that I did eventually lose without even having scored 100 points (which was my initial goal) maybe will strengthen that idea. But if you actually took the trouble to watch the video, hopefully I have convinced you that if you are careful enough, you can play endlessly. I don't want to spend hours on this Eclipse so you will have to take that 75
I was okay with one (just one) Eclipse requiring you to avoid making matches for 50 matches, because there, at least, your runs cannot last arbitrarily long. However, having to avoid making matches indefinitely feels just silly. This is not Bejeweled Twist anymore, this is just an endless game of Mikado. Actually, if you enjoy playing Mikado then maybe you will have fun with this Eclipse, I don't know...
Now, if anyone comes up to me with their own Challenge Pack and asks me to playtest it, my answer will probably be: "No thank you, I have had my fair share of 40-minute Eclipse runs where the best strategy is just to avoid making matches most of the time"
