This was the last remaining locomotive in Zenica. It had it's last ride on February 12th, 2015 when it was officially shut down and removed from service. Now the mine has moved to a small diesel locomotive which was manufactured in Bulgaria. The old steam locomotive will now only serve for monumental purposes.

@0:45 That's amazing! the guy is not wearing a face shield or safety glasses to protect his face or eyes from getting burned.

Even workers 100 yrs back in many countries used eye protection at least. These guys shouldn't have to rough it like this today. Your eyes are priceless!

and not a powerhammer in sight, this really is primitive even by small steam shop standards at least in the americas from what i have seen, they usually have some power equiptment and a small machine shop even the home of 765 does and we dont have tones of stuff, a bridgeport loaned to us by joey one of the members, a smaller vertical mill 2 lathes two drill presses,, a metal bandsaw, several air compressors, a wood router and a wood tablesaw, and lots of torches and handtools, as well as painting and sandblasting equiptment, oh and an indoor crane 2 forklifts, and two outside truck cranes, and a pressure washer, and we have differant manual presses and tube benders, oh and two welders, and a rivet forge

I wonder what the official reason was for taking the locomotive out of service? Maybe it needed a major overhaul and heavy repairs would be needed. Fitting the wheels with new tyres or major boiler surgery necessary would be good reason to take the locomotive out of service. despite the fact you can make your own parts and the fuel was free.

Just gradual new investment. The other two mines in the area (Breza and Kakanj) had their steam engines replaced with diesels in the past few years as well. Whilst the Kreka mines around Tuzla have had their locos barred by ZBH from running on the main line due to new H&S rules.

An interesting question would be if the steam engine would be cheaper to run because of the 'free' fuel and ability to make parts with local engineering expertise.

That's a USA tank locomotive
@EvenFurtherRail7 жыл бұрын
The locomotive was built in 1955 by the Duro Djakovic engineering works based in Slavonski Brod, Croatia. The design is based on the USATC of WWII. Dumped outside the shed was a genuine USATC.
