Back with another Bank of Patches for the Novation PEAK, but this time it's different...All Patches use at least 1 of the new Wavetables, All have Animate, Mod Assignments and most have Aftertouch where relevant.
It's packed with Textures and Pads...You know it's my thing :) Plus lots of Leads, Bass EP's and other Worldly sounds. Novation have a fantastic Synth, especially since the latest update.

Thanks...It is more "Texture" based this time...I did a load of "Analogue" Patches in Vol 1, just want to do a bit more Digital Textures.

@@GEOSynths it's great the Peak can do both. Be sure to check out the preglide and pitch envelope options. Sending envelope to just one osc pitch can add very nice variable detuning. Very 90s soundtrack kinda thing I suppose, I never even bothered with pitch envelope techniques before the Peak.

Whoa, these are amazing sounding patches Jamie. I swear you are going to make me pull the trigger on this gem (and your set of patches). Interesting comment by Toykeeper below re: the Peak, Kyra, or the Virus Ti. While the Kyra's multi-timbral aspects are VERY intriguing, I too wonder if the Peak will be a more solid/proven choice. The price-point of the Peak is also hard to ignore. Nice work as always!

Thanks James...It is a very good Synth and I'm sure the Kyra will be good, but in reality the more complex a Synth gets, the less the interface becomes useful...certainly happened with the Virus Ti...I had one, but then with all the updates it ended up with way too much menu diving for me. Not an issue I suppose for making a few patches but when you're doing 128...different matter. The PEAK has enough complexity to make it sound very diverse and interesting and the additional wavetables have now made it very interesting and for me, will become Sampler Food :)

FWIW, I eventually gave up on trying to do everything dawless. It was too expensive and too limiting. So I don't really care any more whether a synth can do several timbres at once, or just one... because I can multitrack it. And with that in mind, there's not really any reason to get a Virus or a Kyra. Instead, the more interesting options are items like a Peak or Hydra. Great sound, good UI, and very versatile. Personally, I've been pondering whether to go a step further, and go for a synth which is even more hands-on and more designed for performance... like a Pro 3. It'd likely keep me more focused on song composition instead of patch creation. OTOH, the Hydra is also really appealing, because it's so flexible it's almost like a wireless digital version of a eurorack... and it has good performance macros for turning each patch into an entire soundscape. Decisions are hard.

I'm just not sure whether to go for a Peak, which is awesome but mono-timbral... or wait for the Kyra to come out, which is multi-timbral but might not otherwise be as good... or go old-school and grab a Virus Ti, which would do everything I need but is really old and still pretty expensive.

Yes... there are ways to get some monosynths to sort of do more than one timbre. But those methods are mostly party tricks which aren't particularly useful in practice. Like, you can get more than one timbre if you cut the note range and the complexity of the patch in half. And it's incompatible with everything shown in this video. Meh. I'm wanting several different timbres and at least a dozen notes of polyphony... in hardware, with a good interface for onboard patch creation. And for that, I basically need a Virus or something similar. But aside from being monotimbral, the Peak is so nice that I'm tempted to go for one anyway. It'd just be nice to have, like, more than one Peak. The Kyra looks like what might happen if the Peak and the Virus had a baby, so... I'm hopeful that it'll be good. But there isn't enough info on it yet to really say for sure.

If the sound "speaks" to you, then that's the real basis for buying one...If you bought one and sold it a year later, you may only lose a small amount...see it as your renting fee :). I don't think the Kyra will be in stores any time soon.

@@GEOSynths I was actually going to ask ... of ALL the synths you own, WHY would you use the DM12 as a controller? I'm not arguing that it's a bad synth, but it's a sub-par keyboard... I was surprised to see it here.

@@jriceblue It's not really a choice...It's down to room as I have to move things of my Desk to get the 61 note in and the depth of the desk isn't enough to have the PEAK on the stand and a 61 key in front...besides, it's only for Sound Design...
