He's my fave personally, adorable in a way a scruncly cat would be lol and I find his background and character arc interesting (tho I would have preferred if they had left out the whole Nezuko thing because that's just.. uncomfortable). But I can absolutely understand why people would be bothered by how dramatic he is almost all the time, even if he does have his reasons to act that way. But the interesting thing to me is that the Japanese fandom, or specifically the people that read the manga in Shounen Jump, really seem to love him though. He's easily topping the popularity polls and I have yet to find a single Japanese tweet or some complaining about him. I'm sure a good chunk of his fanbase is just fangirls, but surely that can't be all there is to it if he even tops typically fangirl attracting characters like Giyuu. Is mystery.
