Thanks for making this video! Looks like I’m either in for an Odin 2 or something x86’y

While I tested here with the Mini, you'll get the same performance on the cheapest Odin 2 model - my Mini is the 8GB base version which is exactly equivalent to the $299 Odin 2 base. The older model ROG Ally devices are getting cheaper and should run ZZZ pretty well too ... but battery life is not going to be great. (The new Ally X as well, but it costs the same as two Odin 2s and $200 left over for the gacha...)

Oh man I had no idea how wide screen the razer is! Looks like it is a powerhouse though!

20:9 screen - which is actually pretty nice for more modern games that can adapt to the screen resolution. It's still got a lot of screen area for 16:9 content, though ... you still get as much screen size as the RG556 has. At its original MSRP of around $400 US it's actually underpowered (has a Snapdragon G3X Gen 1 ... which is basically a Snapdragon 888+). But they were selling for half of that (new) recently and for THAT price the Edge looks a lot better!

Zenless keeps crashing when i try to open it on my edge would you have any idea why?
@chemicalburrito782

Wifi Edge like the one I have? The Wifi Edge has 6GB RAM, which is less than what ZZZ wants to run comfortably. I have had the best luck running the game right after rebooting the Edge so there's less stuff running in the background. Even then you sometimes have to start the game more than once before it gets in without crashing. It's sad because the Edge has plenty of CPU power for the game once you get it to run... Once the game starts on the Edge, it will generally run fine for quite a while. (I'm doing a couple of combat commissions right now on my Edge, in fact!)

For some reason when I play this on the razer edge it crashes right after I press start. Downloaded like 5 times. Still nothing.
@chemicalburrito782
@chemicalburrito782 22 күн бұрын
If you're using the Wifi Edge, the game's going to be hit or miss because it really wants more RAM. You might have better luck rebooting the Edge and then starting ZZZ as the first app you run afterwards. You don't need to redownload - just attempt to start it again if it crashes. Once it gets past server login, it runs for a while unless you try to back out to another app, at least in my experience. That's why I noted in the video that the game crashes frequently - this video is using the Wifi Edge. (On the 5G model which has 8GB of RAM, the game starts up and runs every time. This is one case where the extra RAM actually matters.)

Hi if the price is the same would you buy razer edge, odin or rg556?
@chemicalburrito782
@chemicalburrito782 19 күн бұрын
Assuming you mean one of the Odin 2 devices when you say "Odin" ... If I was buying one device and the three were the same cost, I would choose an Odin 2. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in the Odin 2 lets you do things that you just can't do well on the other two devices - like emulating some of the more challenging PS2 games. Or Switch and Windows games via Winlator. Or ZZZ at high graphics settings and 60FPS instead of low graphics and/or 30FPS. Now if you meant the older original Odin devices and not the Odin 2 line ... the Razer Edge, for pretty much the same reason as I'd pick an Odin 2 in the first scenario - the Edge is simply better at doing PS2 emulation (my favorite thing on these devices) than the RG556 or the older Odin line. The fact that the screen and controls would be better on the Edge is a bonus in this situation.

@@chemicalburrito782 yeah I meant the odin 2, so the Razer can also play all retro games like rg556?
@chemicalburrito782
@chemicalburrito782 19 күн бұрын
@@Kaiser0109 If a retro game will play on an RG556, it'll play on the Edge - and will likely play *better* on the Edge. Anbernic DOES preinstall and preconfigure a lot of common retro emulators with their systems, though - so if you don't want to mess with setup you don't have to do a whole lot to get an RG556 going. With the Odin 2 and Edge, you have to install emulators yourself. For some people, having all that preinstalled like Anbernic does is a positive. (A lot of retro gamers delete/reinstall different versions of emulators on the RG556 anyway, but it's not required.)

Unfortunately I was one of the ones that bought this day one with that being said I love this thing man one of my best investments given everything that can be done with it I am satisfied a great hybrid in my opinion and playing emulators on here is a blast man

I still think Razer should have either launched the Edge at a lower price or raised the specs (8GB/256GB should have been the bare minimum configuration) - but I still like the device a lot.

@@chemicalburrito782 agreed I was crushed when I found out about them cutting the Ram to 8 to 6 and the FAT32 issue at first but as of right now it seems that is not a issue anymore I could not play certain games like Dragonball budokai 3 was over 4GB at first I could not play it but now I can with no problems I still have a steam deck and a legon go as well I always switch between these I been watching a lot of your videos lately keep up the great work man

@@gotsu87 I, of course, didn't get an Edge until the price drop - and by that time the update to enable exfat support for the memory card was already out there. I'd have definitely been upset about the incorrect advertising for the RAM and the lack of exfat support on the microsd slot if I'd been an early adopter! For the games over 4GB - could you have made a ROM directory in internal memory and just put the big isos in there? I think the internal storage always did support files bigger than 4GB.

I installed it on my Edge and it seems to work fine, at least from running it for about an hour or so. Not launching with native controller support is pretty pathetic for an action game released in 2024, though. That said, you can use the Nexus app that comes with the Edge to map the sticks and buttons for the game if you like.

@@j.ctheanimated1146 I think if you want high settings *and* 60FPS, you probably want go Odin 2. If you don't mind backing down some on the graphics settings, you can play at 60fps on the Edge. I won't say that there's no frame drops *at all* ... but the combat felt smooth. The device gets warm, but its been running the game for a couple of hours now and hasn't overheated. The fan runs the whole time, though. I think what the Edge (and Odin, for that matter) really get you over the iPhone for these games is the active cooling. I have an iPhone 12 Pro and it seems to thermally throttle at the drop of a hat when gaming ... so the performance starts off really nice but it can't keep it up.
