That was VERY instructional. You teach this very well. I just had a YUGE learning curve doing that along with you. ❤

Rick, you must have nerves of steel your hand is so steady. I like tips you gave especially rotating the tile. I have lazy eye so this has really helped with my depth perception. My goal is slow and steady, practice and more practice. In going to be 71 soon but you can teach old dogs new tricks. Thankyou

Rick, I love the way you used the micron 01 to create separation between your layers. So much depth from a technique that's aaalmost invisible. I'll be playing with this technique myself, in future tangles. Thanks!

Separation between layers and to me added depth as the aura appears to have been only lightly drawn giving the appearance of fading away. At least that’s my take on the thumbnail.

My Gelly Roll pens do not have the same level of consistent white ink lay down as yours. I have to go over each line to get the kind of contrast that you have. I really enjoyed this demo however.

Sandy Banks I’ve Rick and Maria suggest using a lighter touch to get more ink to flow. I tried this after having issues similar to those you described and …waaah laaah! It seemed to help. I’m still practicing, but it seems better. Good luck to you. 😊

I love your work and am totally fascinated watching you work, but please would you turn up your volume as I can't make out everything you say as it's so quiet. Thank you for sharing with us Zentangle is truly awesome. I live in Chester in the UK. There is no-one selling any Zentangle books, tiles or anything specific to tangling apart from colouring books. In fact no-one seems to have heard of it so I buy my books and tiles on line from Amazon. It will be lovely when this art comes here.

Im starting to play around with this first project pack, getting my footing and such. This is the first time I’ve worked with Gelly Rolls and they are quite inky which is lovely, however I’m a bit clumsy and I keep smudging with my drawing hand... so while I’m working on the left side my hand is smudging the other side where I just was moments ago... what’s your advice to combat this without waiting a few minutes every time you turn the tile for the ink to dry? Is there something obvious I’m not thinking of? (That’s usually it 😂)

Thanks for a fun tutorial! Can you tell us more about the Koi brush pen? I bought a 6-pack of gray ones and I'm hoping one of them is the same shade you used...?

I do enjoy watching you make your designs, but can't understand how you can claim invention and regulation of doodling and patterns that have been around for centuries!
@Zentangle4 жыл бұрын
We don’t. Ever. We share freely, we say when tangles are inspired by other things, and we don’t claim inventing. Doodling. First of all, we do not doodle. We draw patterns. We do claim possession of the teaching method of zentangle.

@@Zentangle I would like to see more recognition of the heritage of these patterns. Renaming them does look like trying to own things that are already in common media. Besides, the history and folklore of some of them is fascinating.
@purplepaisleypassion6 ай бұрын
@dshe8637 you know what? You're really full of it. You comment on a video where Rick has demonstrated Crescent Moon. WHERE in "common media" is this pattern?? Where are Bales? Keeko? Meer? Paradox? And many others? There's really no reason to attempt to discredit or criticize Zentangle or Rick & Maria other than petty jealousy. Read that again. Then consider not watching or supporting them, if you feel that way. Takes the zen out of Zentangle.

@@purplepaisleypassion All those patterns with names added on have sure made you angry 😁

@dshe8637 nope. .I'm all about the zen. I just know pettiness and jealousy when I see them.
