Facing The Dragon; Julian Daizan Skinner

Happy Chinese new year! It's the Year of the Dragon. In this dharma talk given during our regular weekly meeting, Daizan Roshi explores the significance of the dragon symbolism in both Chinese and Japanese culture and also in our Western culture.
It turns out that there are more dragon stories per capita here in the UK than anywhere else in the world. But what the dragon has come to mean is very different here compared to in the East. In the West you're encouraged to "kill the dragon," whereas in Zen you're encouraged to ride the dragon!
