As I learned a couple of these tips I STARTED realizing how used they are in Tech House. Love the ghost note tip! Something I've been playing with is automating a little slap delay on the note key, so when you hit the highest notes in the bassline you get a little touch of slap

That "jump" happens because you reduce the note length that comes before a syncopated 1.1.4 note, and because you have a bit of release, shortening the note emphasises the swing and makes it funkier. Cool tips, mate.

Something that no tutorial seems to say is when you have a funky bass line do you have to also have a sub bass playing the same notes

Usually the Bass will have the sub in it unless you remove it so I always say yes it can go together or separate as long as the rhythms are friendly with each other and they are respecting space. SUB Lows, Top Bass Mids/Highs

I apologize if I'm missing something, I'm new to music production and I'm just trying to figure out how you got your bass line to sound more full? I'm using the same preset as you are in your video, but all I'm getting is a soft pluck sound.

If it’s a pluck no bass? Maybe play it an octave lower. Lower in keyboard if you are in Ableton make sure the midi set to C3

@@ZenWorld It's a bass that I'm using the "Loving It Cnt" bass from deceiver vol. 3. Are there any other changes you made to the bass aside from selecting the preset in Serum?

@@jonburd5791 no sir it should be a sustained bass. Play at different octaves. At most I might have a ozone master chain but I don’t think that changes the sound completely. Check mod wheels to see if they aren’t turned

Another tip is moving Basslines to perfect 5th or perfect 4th is also boring and robotic. That is why in the first example that D# to A# (7 half steps = Perfect 5) was boring and D# to B was funkyyyy!!!!
