+RachelAlexandra123 I know Blame won head to head (all be it by a nose), He and Zenyatta both went 5-1. I know it's not usually the case but I think Zenyatta deserved the HOY. He only loss was against Blame, where as he lost tin a much easier race and beat by a lesser horse in Haynesfield. Besides the HOY is not about who won or would win racing head to head. It's about who was the best horse that year. His loss was worse he only had to face 5 other horses.

Bullsheot. Blame beat better fields all year in 2010. She beat nothing all year but very moderate So Cal older mares on polytrack. Go look at who they beat in 2010 instead of spinning complete bullshit. This was another in a long line of desperate politically motivated HOY picks because they "thought it would help racing" to hand it to her. On the track Blame was the better horse in 2010 and the fields he beat and their records proved it. All this vote proved was how laughable the HOY vote has become. It is nothing now but a pure politically motivated popularity contest. Just as bad as the Oscars has become.

HOY 2010 voting went according to the rules, whether you agree with the outcome or not. I did feel bad for Blame as he was an incredibly talented young horse. Although I am a Zenyatta fan, I find no pleasure in belittling any of the owners here. If people are lowering themselves to that level, it would be more productive to work to get the rules changed to whatever they think needs to be changed to make it fair and equitable.

So incredibly deserved. A first-rate team. Love all of team Zenyatta. Mike Smith was a very, very important part of this mare and all her wins. I really wish they had made just a little more of the Mike/Zenyatta connection and how close they were. Also, Al Stall Jr. a very humble and classy guy. A great example for the sport.

A pox on all the negative nellies about why she shouldn't have won HOY. You all have very narrow vision...VERY NARROW. Zenyatta was not only a champion, she has and is creating a paradigm shift in the whole arena of horse-racing and it's for the better! Maybe you all are just too myopic to see it yet, but it's there and it's gonna grow. She is transformative! ♥

blah, blah, blah she got beat in the biggest race heads up and all her wins were on So Cal polytrack against a weak older mare division. Keep pumping the hype, she was given HOY pure as another politically correct choice. On the track she was beat and Blame was better and his record that year proves it.

GBeret 83 you are right, but it was more than that. People all over the internet posted comments and arguments for giving it to Zenyatta. I think we were all heard. If they had not given it to her, racing would have lost even more of its viewership. But the bottom line is that she deserved it. All of Zenyatta's connections are class personified. By the way, GBeret83, I always enjoy your comments. They are spot on and good for those of us who are relatively new to horse racing to learn from.

Want to know about Imp, first female HOY (1894-1909): 171 Starts, 62 Wins, 35 Places, 29 Shows, Career Earnings: $70,119. She ran from 32-50 races A YEAR! She foaled 3 colts and one filly and died in foaling in 1909. They just don't make 'em like her anymore. That's a lot of what's wrong with the sport. Soundness and stamina was once considered top of the list of desirable traits.

BigRed73Forever, I wonder what Penny Chenery would think of you trashing Zenyatta for no other reason than you have a screw loose. You really are just a troll and I doubt that is the kind of support she would want for Secretariat, a horse we ALL revere as the greatest horse of all time.

Anyone who has a problem with Zenyatta has a screw loose? Did you ever consider this person knows a real champion is Big Red, and not a mare who beat up on crap in slow times? And you are the troll Paula, your head is so far up Zenyatta's ass that it explains why you're so full of shiiiit!

Zenyatta & Blame were both gifted horses and for anyone to suggest otherwise about either is wrong. That said, I don't for a second believe Zenyatta won 2010 HOY based on lifetime achievement. A lot of people in the industry think her 2010 BC Classic was the best race of her career, even in defeat. Blame at the peak of his career beat Zenyatta by 6" maybe a year past her peak on his home track. Blame's fate for losing HOY was sealed the day Haynesfield routed him by 4+ lengths in the JCGC.
@lehcaraz1
@lehcaraz1 11 ай бұрын
Those who think Blame was better than Zenyatta don't realize that despite being 20 lengths behind the field in the back stretch and then blocked by Quality Road at the top of the final stretch she still ran Blame down and would have passed him in the next stride. Blame would never had been able to do what she did that day. She proved she was a better horse even in the loss. Blame had a sweet ride and the rail the final stretch and no traffic!

@saveus228
@saveus228 11 жыл бұрын
agreed. Just like Awesome Again beat SKip Away by 10 lengths in the Classic and had an undefeated season but still didn't beat Skip Away in the Vote. Simply because like Blame, Awesome Again didn't begin his season till the beginning of summer, which is half the year gone already.

BigRed73Forever, I addressed your same post on another youtube video regarding Zenyatta. Blame got his head handed to him by Haynesfield. You never responded to that and I wonder why. Could it be you were hoping no one would bring this up? Blame was a very nice horse and had he defeated Zen by a wider margin, HOY might have been different. He didn't and was damn lucky the wire got there because she was driving. He's a nice horse, but got very lucky. Happens that way sometimes.
@accordioncolin
@accordioncolin 10 жыл бұрын
He didn't get lucky. He beat her fair and square. As for what happened with Haynesfield, no horse can close on a horse who gets loose with 48 3/4 second half and 1:13 1/5 3/4s. Buckpasser couldn't do it, Blame couldn't do it, Zenyatta couldn't do it.
@Landmnlady

***** Zenyatta won HOY in 2010. It is 2014. The gold statue is in California, not Kentucky. She won it. Period. End of story. If you need more convincing, keep watching this video. Maybe it will eventually sink in.

I never said she didn't win it and I never said she didn't deserve it. I simply defended Blame. He was a lot better than pretty much the entire industry gives him credit for. Look at the mares he got, that should be sufficient evidence. Want to show me another horse who since he ran has done the same things he did?
@Landmnlady
@Landmnlady 10 жыл бұрын
***** You can defend Blame. He is a very nice horse and the only people who care what mares he got is Claiborne. Blame is an asterisk in racing history. His half a head victory in the 2010 BCC won't catapult him into the HOF.
@accordioncolin
@accordioncolin 10 жыл бұрын
His defeating Zenyatta when no other horse could should aid him, but if it doesn't, that is no issue. Blame still swept the Stephen Foster over top horses, and then took down Quality Road in the Whitney. Can you name another horse who could take down Quality Road going 9f? Big names, Hall of Fame names come to mind. He then ran a bang up race on Super Saturday when he closed into Haynesfield's deathly slow fractions and that's to say then in facing top company he never was worse than third in his entire career.

So let's get this straight...Blame defeats all the top male handicap horses throughout the year, including Quality Road when QR was at his peak and favorite track/distance, Blame then defeats Zenyatta in conclusion and loses HOY? Maybe in fairytale land. Since when does failing to beat a single GI winner all year and losing the Classic = HOY? It DOESN'T! This award is meant for horses facing the top male open handicap division. Blame had 5 of those types of wins, Zenyatta had ZERO!!! Total BS

Since the HOY became a joke about 2 decades ago when the powers that be decided to transform it into a popularity contest rather than a true award for on track merit. That's why. Blame beat superior fields to Zenyatta's competition all year in 2010 and he beat her heads up in the big race. The fact he did not get HOY was as big a travesty as when the same collection of voting clowns handed HOY to a 2 year old that never raced beyond 1 1/6th in 1997 instead of Skip Away who won multiple grade 1's that year including a destruction of a very good BC Classic field. Blame was not only better than Zenyatta in the 2010 BC Classic, he was better than her ALL year and their competition and results proved it.
@colleenrobbins4203

Probably because Blame did not have 20 starts and win 19 of them with his only loss being a second. Blame is a great horse and likely will be a good stud but Zenyatta deserved this win. Get over it.

@colleenrobbins4203 Жыл бұрын
She raced him down at the end and if the race had been 2 feet longer she would have beat him. She won the award she deserves the award. Be happy for her. It takes nothing away from Blame's career.

@@colleenrobbins4203 I agree! People forget that Zenyatta made up 20 lengths from the back stretch and was blocked by Quality Road on the final stretch and still would have caught and passed Blame in another second. No other horse could have done what she did in that race. Blame never could have done that. He had a smooth clear path to the finish.
