Jacob, I really wish I would have bought the 135w back 5 years ago when it was "only" $400 or so. Would love to have that X-Pan feel...That and mine didn't have the crank since it came with the speed winder...and that crank is like $150! But I love it as it's the perfect size and quality.

Bronica was a quality manufacturer of cameras and lenses with a very successful range of ETR 6X4.5, SQ 6X6 and the GS 6X7 cameras. It was acquired by Tamron in 1998. Their last camera, and perhaps the most iconic was the 645 RF which was a rangefinder ( highly sought after ) and that was killed off by Tamron in 2005. It is worth nothing that Sony, who have a vested interest in killing analogue photography, have a 12% holding in Tamron which makes them the 2nd largest share holder in Tamron. I used to have an ETRS with full range of lenses and accessories including metering prism, polaroid back, etc etc in the mid 80s and I sold them for next to nothing in the early 1990s. I still have the compendium lenshood and masks somewhere. BTW, I think that expired transparency is really shifting towards blue now. Perhaps an 81C or even an 81 EF filter would be useful next time.

Love the ETRSi. I use it primarily for landscapes, but it's excellent for portraits too. The lenses have 5-bladed apertures that give you pentagonal bokeh.

Maaaate lovely work. I bought an ETRSi in the late 80s for wedding and portrait work loved it to bits and as didge took off I couldn’t bear to part with it. The last couple of years I’ve got back into film in my spare time out came the Bron primary for landscapes sadly I drown it fried at the ocean I miss that workhorse so much I do have an older ETR which I’m giving a go I just love everything about these brons. Liked n subbed cheers

After owning a ton of medium format cameras, I've gone back to my ETRSi as my go-to, even though I love shooting squares. I have the AE II Prism finder so it really is easy and fast to shoot and I've been super impressed with the 40mm PE lens as well as the 75 and 150. I've shot a few rolls of Lomochrome Purple in it recently and it's been amazing. Only downside is that you have to remember to turn off the AE prism AND lock the shutter or it will slowly eat your battery. But like with most camera's once you learn that it's easy to remember to do. Eduardo, the shots from this series are really really great and I think 645 suits you. If you had to choose, LC-A 120 or the Bronny?
@okyeabuddyguy
@okyeabuddyguy Жыл бұрын
Enjoying discovering your channel! No disrespect but I noticed some shots seem maybe a bit overexposed? Was it too bright for the 1/500 top shutter to handle or were you using the AE Prism meter and it was off?

Thank you for doing this, and taking the time for great muszak too lol. I still was a little surprise about the reason why getting the Bronica camera I have Mamiya 645's and the only reason why was due to the price at the time they were cheap. Even the AFD was way less than 500 USD, and the most odd thing for me was the film back was less than 100 USD at the time now I'm a bit surprised how the prices have gone. I would mention the prices but I think some people would be a tad upset.. I do like my Rz's but I do understand why many people like the supers and pro's too.

Great video! I recently received a ETRS and am just trying to work out a few things. Firstly, does the shutter only fire with a film in? How did you work out which shutter and aperture to use without the use of a light metre
@samuel3471
@samuel3471 2 жыл бұрын
That’s correct it will only fire the shutter with film in - but you can over ride using the multiple exposure lever.

Well this video cost me a bunch of cash! lol Got a minty ETRS on it’s way, with winder and AE finder 😀 Love the look of film so finally took the plunge. Do you find people more receptive when you approach them with a big old film camera, rather than say a slr or dslr? Seems to me it’s a matter of scale in a way, if someone asked you if the could take your photo and pulled out an iPhone, it’d be a bit weird but if they had a 10x8, you’d probably be flattered. The 645 definitely seems to be on the right side of that equation lol
@edpavez

The camera changes how open people are about having their picture taken. I love TLRs for that reason. But of course the camera is like 20%, the rest is how you conduct yourself, how friendly you are, etc.

Hey Eduardo, I had an ETRSi kit back in the late 90's - great system. Of course its was not intended as a street camera (a 645 rangefinder would be better for that), but as always you have made some great pictures with it (and with lovely tunes, too). What is the name of that location where you were? I like that that manual winder / grip - I had a motor winder, but that would be less useful today than the manual grip. Greetings from Australia! Enjoy the summer up there 😀
