Unit classes are not the thing one takes into account when analyzing a unit but i feel it merits this time. Zephia has a unique class to her alone called "Melusine", as it turns out this class reveals quite a bit about her character. "Melusine" is a fairy from French folklore that falls in love and eventually marries a man and willingly shares her fortune, her life and bears his children so long as the man upholds one promise to her, which he often does not. Melusine is commonly depicted as a woman with draconic or serpentine traits and is considered somewhat analogous to certain notions of mermaids or water nymphs

@@Omegadra And I was just thinking of that Melusine when I was reading the comment. Though yes, there are various similarities I find with Zephia and Melusine (the French folklore version). But what really hits me is the fact that Sombron was actively seeking to be alone to reachieve his connection with his emblem, rather than some immoral decision that most men marrying Melusine have. Though, both desires are in the end selfish, as both hurt Zephia/Melusine in the end.

Damn man, I didn't expect this game to make me feel feelings as many times as it did. Between this, Lumera's end (both of them, haha) and some others it feels so much more poignant than Fates and Awakening. Full voice acting really does so much for a game. Laura Stahl absolutely kills it in this game. Anywhoozies, honestly all Four Hounds having hidden depths and the way these two meet their ends *DOES* make it feel like they're possibly being set up as recruitable characters. Marni: sociopath who gets killed the nanosecond their empathy starts to bloom. Zephia: sociopath who never really got a chance to feel true connections, despite all her opportunities (Griss existing, being able to do the Time Crystal thingy to visit her own family), due to spite and basically being taken in by Sombron. Griss: poor little BDSM guy. Mauvier: only normal person.

Griss had no one and was so desperate for any form of connection to anyone he legit fell into BDSM until he met Zephia. Celestia also has the same VA as Zephia though less condescending and more kind sounding. Madeline has a bond support where she asks Edelgard what her parents probably think of her which would fit Marni's mother issues and need to want to be praised. Gregory has a support with Claude where Claude tells him to run into an enemy group and distract them, which would make sense since Griss would be very willing to run into an enemy group and receive a beating since he loves pain. Then we also get Celeste and Rafale, I think and axe female class character and a male lance character who seems to also be able to turn into a dragon. Maybe if things had been different. To me, it feels like all Four Hounds have redeemable qualities. Hells, even *SOMBRON'S* main lack in life that led him to being the way he was was a lack of meaningful connections. Perhaps if he'd been befriended earlier, he may have been amenable to Veyle and Alear's pleas. As it stands, he had been alone far too long. Too set in his ways to ever change, not even for his offspring.
@leon4000 Жыл бұрын
That's assuming that if they are willing to accept their mistakes and so forth that they saw only as a weakness in their twisted minds. As much as we want to hope they could be redeemed, it never happened because they made their choices on what counted as the strong and what's weak. Choices of following Sombrom so they can stand on high so they can never feel weak again. Some parts of them were immature and/or lived with us tragedy, they never learned anything else they should have learned, but the era and times they lived in with the people who lived there refuses to let them truly mature. Zephia and Gross were lost beyond the reaches of anyone. Sure, only they could attempt to turn back, but points stand. Hard times do create strong people, but some people remain lacking in other values and positive things they could have embraced and learn to find a balance, thus they are shaped by who they choose to be and how they see the world.

I strongly would like to refute that the dubstep mole people had the best designs.
@HDZ274 Жыл бұрын
@@pinpinku9321 Zephia's design is fantastic; arguably the strongest design in the game. It immediately communicates a huge amount of info about her: Villain, manakete, tribal, motherly. She has a great silhouette thanks to the moon and pareo (Which the moon's asymmetry is the perfect shape balancer to her asymmetric bangs), her core color balance has wonderful harmony between the muted purple and bright golds (complimentaries) and, in contrast to Alear's god-awful use of pure blue and red, Zephia uses a magenta and blue bringing the colors closer to a harmonic diad rather than isolated primaries. The use of high saturation contrasts she uses in her eye color immediately draws attention to her face and expression, especially since her eyes are thin (Something that helps it sit parallel along the moon's center axis letting the eye run smoothly across the face) and only one is visible. To put in comparison with a similar design in the game, she has a lot of similarities to Ivy's design but better. Ivy's daubs sheer white (which you want to avoid usually) and Zephia also dodges using non-hued black (A good thing) instead opting for a muted purple. Instead of white she uses the platinum blonde in her hair and tan skin as the lighter end of her color spectrum which work well with the gold already established in her color palette. Both characters have head-heavy silhouettes but Zephia's does a better job moving your eye from top to bottom where Ivy' purely circular head adornment causes your eye to hold and stop; not helped by its net texture. Not to mention while Ivy's offers cool silhouette and framing depending on the scene, it's intrusive in dialogue scenes and gets in the way of any emotion outside of "mysterious". I think Engage's designs are somewhat hit or miss and Mika Pikazo was a very strange pick for a fantasy epic genre, but Zephia's is almost certainly the stand out in the cast though there's others with good ones as well.

I think one thing I really appreciated about this whole sequence is that the game isn’t asking you to forgive them. Zephia even admits her whole change of heart speech was bullshit because at her core she is an incredibly petty person. She loves the idea of family but can’t understand the concept of forgiveness considering Sombron is a selfish piece of shit and that’s the example she took from. She tries to make one among the hounds but Mauvier was only ever loyal to Veyle and Marnie was desperate for attention. Mauvier would leave the moment Veyle left and Marnie would have accepted any group that would have her. Griss is the one that loved her for her and that’s what this scene is really trying to convey. They are bad people, objectively bad. We shouldn’t forgive them, or pity them, but at the very least we should understand them. Idk if that makes sense but I went into this game expecting Fates level writing (Especially after the first three chapters) and this scene really surprised me.

I am kind of happy that their alternative counterparts got to be what they never realised they were. I find it difficult to hate characters, especially the ones that are dying. It’s ironic, I always wish they could live a better life with the wisdom they get in their dying moments. Griss’ last words cap it off. The reference to death and sleep together is rather prominent in this game, this last one caps it off. “You drifted off already?” Like she was finally at peace. “Guess I will too, no reason to stick around without her.” Like he was hanging on so she wouldn’t go alone. “Nothing hurts me, anymore.” Like how the worst has happened so he’ll be alright passing on.

The fact you have to fight them ALMOST EVERY CHAPTER in the second half of the game got old really quick and until this Chapter, they had no personality. And so the game suddenly trying to make them all sympathetic by telling their backstory literally as they are dying like it is an episode of Demon Slayer... STOP DOING THIS! THIS IS BAD STORYTELLING! I'm not against them having a backstory, but they should have done that earlier so the player is thinking about it as they are fighting the discount Elite Four over here. That would have made this work better. Why is this game's story written so poorly? Nothing happens in like 80% of it and when we get to that last 20%, it just feels like it is speedrunning having an actual story, but the game itself has established so little good faith with me that I do not even care. And these death scenes are so fucking dragged out, it's miserable. Lumera's death scene going on for over five minutes was annoying enough, but this scene going on for about TEN MINUTES... You know it's bad when the Switch starts going into power save mode in the middle of a cutscene. Even the console is falling asleep at this garbage.
