I wish there would be a Text UI small font option. we only have normal and big options atm. sometimes UI still looks bad and too clunky. and even with all these crazy animations.. sometimes skills don't feel impactful...also 2.5gcd? also we need new 2v2/3v3 map like Glory Arena from The Kings Avatar...and Blue mage enabled in PvP could be fun. I mean they balance ačl classes for PvP why can't they balance blue mage too? also more epic mounts that aren't that impossible to get or p2w. also PvP missions/quests and more PvP mounts would be nice. Pve and Story is already amazing in this game..they just need to work on some pvp features. or sound/pop-out notification for Frontline que would be nice...so I don't need to watch at the game for 15 minutes lmao. or mybe preview for PvP class when u make a character...event ho youtubers cover that

I have few things of advice to give to people that want to learn and do end game content. 1. Don't be afraid to go in and try it out, the fights are fun just remember do not join a phase 2 party if you have not even been into a fight. The biggest OOF moment is when we have a party up for phase 2 or enrage party and we have to teach the mechanics to someone who has never been into a fight, it leads to rage and very unfriendly moments from others. 2. Utilize your Black List to weed out the people that give you a terrible experience. People can be harsh rude and mean in end game content just be prepared for that. 3. Mechanics > Heals > DPS. it's nice if you can pull big numbers but numbers do not mean anything when you are dead. Save the greed for after you learn the whole fight and are comfortable doing so. 4. Lastly, just have fun. Do not let anxiety win over what you want to do. The best thing you can do is put your foot in the door and taste the waters. ^_^

@Ernest Samuels You need a group of friends to go in with you. If you use Duty Finder to find people, you'll end up in a party of people that know the fight better than you do, and then you'll be inconveniencing people like Kevin Miller up there who doesn't want you to join a party for content using the in-game tool designed explicitly for that purpose.
@ZulyGD3 жыл бұрын
@@MCWilson You completely misunderstood what they said. Parties are perfectly labeled with expectations and frustrations come when people join parties that don't meet that criteria. What they said was if you are stepping into a fight for the first time, you join a Learning/Fresh Progression party, not a Phase 2 party. A Phase 2 Party wants members who are familiar with getting to Phase 2 consistently so the group can learn past Phase 2.

This! I joined a static and we are all new to extremes/savage content. We just got our first clear on memoria misera and although we died a lot it was a ton of fun. This is content you actually have to practice. You can't just look up one guide and then think you know the fight. I myself really wanna get into doing savage content. Normal raids are getting boring and I wanna try something different
@amandawoodward55963 жыл бұрын
@Ernest Samuels do them. If you die enough times you roll begin to recognize patterns that help. I actually lern patterns of a fight so I can position myself early. Watch a guide and pick out the major mechanics, if you do that, then you should be able to work around the little stuff but easily clean it up later. I really wish they would make a practice thing to help people learn. Like maybe an arena where you have to just do mechanics and doge big aoes kinda like the novice guide duty thing.

I don't raid anymore not because it's scary, but because I'm 64 and thankful I can still play at all! heh. I raided WoW Mythic for a few years so I do get the sentiment, it's hard work, often frustrating and best done with friends. And drink. Lots and lots of drink. I remember when we cleared Garosh Mythic (Server first, woot!) most of us were just a bit under the weather, so to speak. The voice chat was something I'll always remember and cherish. "Did we kill the f*&^er"? "ermm.. I think so. is there another phase?" ""not sure" and so on and so forth until the gm chat congratulated us on server first.I don't think they do that anymore, just world firsts now. It was magic. Nowadays though I forget mechanics and fall off things and stand in sh*t, don't move when I should and move when I shouldn't. Don't get old, kids, it sucks.

Hell, my anxiety even kept me from being in call when they do it because I was afraid of saying something that would distract them. So I just wait an expansion or two and then unsync it, and even then, it's still difficult for me. I have trouble keeping up with too many mechanics at once. The hard content is the once place in FF where I don't feel I belong in.

Often times it just "looks" overwhelming. Trust me. Try to see only the parts in the fights that actually matter to you. Sometimes its more, sometimes they are surprisingly few. If your friends make you feel uncomfortable raiding, don't raid with them. Find other people on pf, reddit, or Discord. Look for people who want the same thing you want and are at about the same place with similar expectations. You may want a casual group if you want something less anxiety inducing. But if you have a group that understands that everyone is learning and trying their best, and you put in the effort, then you'll do well :)

Just find the right group that fits your pacing. Practice, practice, and practice, you will get it.

There´s absolutely nothing wrong with this. I´ve played FFXIV for years now (since about 2015) and I´ve never done a fresh savage or extreme. I´m not going to give myself grief and depression for a few item levels or a mount I never use anyway (looking at you Kirin and Firebird). I´ll never forget the time in Mists of Pandaria I wanted to join a raid (they locked story behind Raid) and I was escourted to a training dummy to have my DPS analysed and told I couldn´t raid. I always thought FFXIV players were different...at least here I´ve never in 5 years been told 'what are you doing here your gear is shit' never. No one has ever commented on my gear or DPS unless I asked for advice.

Hey, I’d tell you to try again! Maybe ask to rejoin them if they still have a spot open? Savage is all repetition and memorizing mechanics and learning the best way for you and your group to do them. DPS doesn’t matter until you’ve hit enrage a couple of times and have the mechs down pat. Tanks and Healers get a couple extra mechanics, as well, but if you’ve been consistently playing either role for a while, it shouldn’t be an issue. 90% of it is just nerves, and video guides tend to make it look worse than it actually is. Just remember: always ask questions and speak up. It’ll make you a better raider. Edit: Speaking as someone who just started savage raiding a week and a half ago lol, forgot to mention that

As a correction, the stone sky sea does take into account downtime in the battles that you are forced to take and they are usually overtuned for the damage you actually need to clear. For example, with the latest crafted outfits, you can usually not clear the savage stone sky sea for the final mission but groups can clear those missions with those same outfits. In short, stone sky sea is an excellent tool to gauge your damage output and job understanding, hitting it for a long time to consistently defeat it or reach a very low percentage for your given battle is also a great way to commit the job operation to memory and you will definitely see an improvement in performance in the actual battles from that.

Thank you for talking about Stone, Sky, Sea! In general I feel the game does a good job of having the high end difficulty levels go Extreme > Unreal > Savage > Ultimate. Extreme trials are great because they are an easier way to get used to very scripted fights where you need to pay attention to various things other than orange bad stuff to get out of (boss animations, attack names, etc.). Unreal trials may have simpler mechanics, but the item level sync really makes you need to pull your own weight a lot more. And then savage combines the two.
@rhael423 жыл бұрын
extreme is the same difficulty as unreal. unreal trials are just old ex trials.
@ColterChristensen3 жыл бұрын
@@rhael42 extreme trials and unreal trials are the same difficulty *if* they are done at minimum ilevel, which they rarely are. When emerald weapon ex was released it could be done by characters with an ilevel of 510, and now many players are higher than that, which is much higher than the minimum requirement of 500. And that's talking specifically about the current high end extreme trial. The rest are, as Zepla said in the video, much easier because player ilevels are so much higher. By contrast, titan unreal is a minimum of 530, but you're synced to 535 at maximum. That's why I put unreal as more difficult than extreme. Less wiggle room if mistakes are made and people die on DPS checks before enrage

If you want a wider variety of EX content before jumping into Savage, look for your datacenter's synced community. Every DC has one, they generally organize via Discord, and it's a great way to find groups for synced trials that you would never be able to experience otherwise.
@Daniel-qt5ib3 жыл бұрын
For me, a big part of it is not really wanting to pressure myself into performing "The Rotation" on any given job - I know that sounds bad, but whilst I'm sure that I know the basics of how the jobs I've leveled are meant to be played, I know that sometimes I mess up refreshing buffs on myself or DoTs on the boss, or that my opener might not be optimal but it's more comfortable for me to do. In normal content, nobody seems to really care which suits me just fine - I like the action of reacting to whatever is happening in the fight and adjusting what I'm doing as opposed to what feels like reciting very specific lines of a script that must absolutely never change no matter what. It's partly why I quite like healing & playing RDM, especially when things go to shit and I have the challenge of trying to pull it back from the brink. People shit on DRK for Walking/Living Dead being useless, but some of my favourite memories in-game are using it for those clutch kills in the most normal of content. The other bit is that I don't really want to commit to joining a static and plugging away at it over the course of weeks or months. If I can't make it some evening or I just decide that I'm not in the mood to die all night long, I'd feel awful that I'm letting everybody else down.
@pewthepuny28493 жыл бұрын
What you're saying about the rotation there is exactly why I'm VERY apprehensive about Savage raiding. I expressed an interest in joining a static for Savage, but let the guy know I'm completely new to raiding, and I was linked to a huge monster of a flowchart with a 12 min in-depth video just about how to maximize my DPS OPENER. As a HEALER. There's no way in hell I'm going to remember several 10+ button damage sequences that have to be perfectly timed and executed, keep everyone alive with heals and mitigations, and simultaneously memorize and react to a massive dance routine where a single misstep means certain death all at the same time, I just don't have that kind of mental capacity.

This may be a newbie question, but by fully melded does that mean filling up all of the 100% chance slots on the gear? Or does it mean penta-melding everything? Still working through the MSQ but am in 5.1 now so I'm wondering what will be expected of me if I decide to try out healing in a raid.
@AxeStumpPK3 жыл бұрын
You don't need to be penta meld just fill up 100% slot and maybe 1 overmeld slot (if you have some gil left to do so) if your party can't clear first 2 boss of raid tier(maybe 3rd one too but at that point you will likely get some tomegear and raid gear already), it likely becuase someone made some mistake rather than gear. Ofcourse, there will always be 'that guy' who blame everyone except themself ('we can't clear becuase your gear suck' - the guy who die multiple time)

In WoW I remember I think it was in Panda expansion when the Trials for each the 3 Class was introduced. It was interesting. Though not a good way to gauge things currently. I think a way of something similar but way better can be a foundation or the Novice System built upon it as more expanded content system where the Devs introduce scenarios with DPS DMG Checks, Healing Throughtput Checks, Tank checks. Does every new piece of content to a new patch needs to be a Raid of a new version? How about some simpler scenarios for assessing DPS, Healing output. Tank survivability and DPS both. Content like that can be made and then improved as time goes on. But if the Devs won’t add a DPS Meter, maybe make some testing content scenarios that help assess the player skill being determined to measure Irvin some ways be give a report card. Not perfect. But an assessment content tool to pass and then say, yeap your ready for this.

How can I overcome it? No matter what class (even if it's my most comfortable) I play or what savage content I'm thinking of finishing, I still get a little anxiety strike as I enter the party, then I leave after a while even before queuing. I remember my heart was racing as I first joined A1S for the first time. and the shaking of my hands and the non-stop over thinking leads to some really bad rotations and skills utilization... to the point where nothing gets done. and I just say "That's it, the most I can do is extreme primals."

Never brought out my disability bc I thought it would feel like an excuse and get a swifter kick. Struggling currently to change my setup and see if that can improve anything. I love extreme trials because I don’t feel the pressure of having another three fights to clear. That being said, I really wish I was in a static so I could feel less pressure if I get things wrong. High level endgame raider here. If you are nervous about going into party finder with the fear of other people being toxic or failing to meet certain expectations whatever that might be, the biggest thing is that if you go in just be open minded and ready to learn. Even if I had the absolute worst dps/tank/healer in my party, if they are nice and willing to take advice I'd rather party with that player than the person who thinks they know what they're doing. Everyone starts somewhere and the raiders know this. Just beware of some people that would be toxic no matter what you do, these people exist in every part of life but don't let them discourage you from trying something you might really like. Find friends or something if you need the helping hand for savage and I believe that you'll be fine. That's all I will leave you with.

My biggest issue when it comes to raiding is my own personal anxiety. I'm a fairly decent player and can learn rotations and mechanics somewhat quickly. But the horror stories I've heard about people's time in PF groups is a serious turn-off. Is PF really super toxic, or is it not as bad as people make it out to be?
@bophadesknutz77983 жыл бұрын
It is definitely over exaggerated. Most you will see is maybe some passive aggressive remarks but even those are rare. Since the tier is new, everyone is learning, everyone is making a lot of mistakes. Towards the end of the tier maybe it'll get toxic, but for now it is very chill. Watch a guide, Join a learning party and you'll be fine.

Well, my experiences have been variable, but there are people out there who will expect you to perform well because they are using high end consumables that are expensive/difficult to make to buff themselves for the fight. I think that is part of why people get frustrated quickly if they have to keep wasting food on bad pulls. There are also people who will just leave if the party wipes once, whether they go for speed kills, hate the echo or are just that elitist. It really depends on the people you get, and of course, some are really nice and understand if things don't go well, too. PF is not a horrible place, it just attracts a lot of different people and the parties are loosely categorized

My personal experience from raiding since launch of Heavensward is to just put yourself into the fight and just start getting your hands dirty. Of course you should first learn the role of your class and know the rotation for DPS before going into savage raid. Learning the fight when it first releases with blind prog gives you much more satisfaction when you do clear it without any guide. There's honestly no shortcut to learning in life other than you being in that situation and doing it yourself. If you are a slow learner, then you need to put in the time and effort outside of a static raid (if you have one) and try to practice more so you can lift up your own weight and not become a hinder to others. It's through hours and hours of constant trials and errors, then you figure out the sweet spot that works for you. Repetition is very important. Maybe savage raid isn't for you, and that's perfectly okay. But I do encourage people to give it a try and try to clear at the very least the first savage and then you can decide whether or not you want to continue or just stop there. Personally for me, after doing savage raid and then getting qued into normal raid or anything less than savage raid difficulty, it doesn't satisfy my hunger for mechanics. It just feels numb and boring because there's barely any challenge. The party can still clear even if most of the people are dead because there's no punishment for normal raid such as enrage or DPS check.

RE: ACT - Yoshi has said that they will never issue bans for using ACT because they can't tell if you're using ACT. It works by intercepting data as it's sent to/from the game. It doesn't manipulate anything. It just parses data. The "3rd party tools" rule is also generally quite difficult to enforce because it's unclear where the line should be drawn. Is an MMO mouse a 3rd party tool? Is Discord a 3rd party tool? Neither of these things are part of the game and they offer advantages over people who are not using them.

Ive completed 3/4 Eden's Verse savage raids and i just finished Umbra Savage and i can tell you that starting endgame raids might seem intimidating at first but i would research the fights before i start. This gives you a heads up on whats coming. Everyone in the party is probably also learning or whats called "progging". So it makes it easier to know that ur not the only clueless one lol. And when you boil it down, savage raids are all about memorizing telegraphed abilities and completing patterns. Really it isnt that hard (except Shiva savage, man f#@& light rampant!!)

Before even getting gear or trying to meld said gear, I think the very first step taken should be hitting a striking dummy. The game does very little to teach the jobs to the players, the most optimal rotation, and what a rotation even is. Most people would just be directed to Balance the moment they ask about Savage anyway, and there'll you'll encounter all the strange raid lingos. Learn your rotation, check out the BIS gear, and ask your questions on there. Get your rotation to become muscle memory on your job, then do the normal raids, ex raids, unreal etc to internalise it. There's a huge leap between normal and "high end" content in the sense that it's like going from baby steps to climbing stairs. It's natural to be overwhelmed by the complexity of the mechanics and the sudden strictness of the DPS checks, so much so it's my main criticism of FFXIV. There's no proper middle ground where newbies can experience anything harder than norm dungeons and raids, just a sudden leap with little knowledge supplied by the game. So don't be hard on yourself when you fail, just keep throwing yourself at the wall until you understand things.

In a good group, you should actually be healing much less than you normally would with non-savage groups. This may sound counterintuitive, but hear me out - Savage tanks and DPS know when to use their CDs (Addle, Reprisal, Feint, etc.). You will find out that some of those big hits in normal modes will be almost nothing in Savage. If planned out right with your co healer, you will mostly be oGCD healing while DPSing. Yeah, you may need that Cure 3 or a group regen after a heavy hit, but you will typically be DPSing more. Also because all the damage is planned you can map out CDs with your co healer.
@xenobis813 жыл бұрын
As a healer this statement is crazy to me because for me personally, tanking is where I get anxiety. I think it's because generally, tanks are perceived to be leaders of the group and I don't want to fail my group from that potentially perceived role.
@PubstarHero3 жыл бұрын
@@xenobis81 Tanks have hte most braindead role. Hold boss mid, use CDs when getting slapped. Your DPS contribution is not massive, but you can skate by on bad DPS. Healers are more obvious when people die due to lack of healing, and not meeting DPS checks will be everyone looking at tanks. So again - Is the tank doing something dumb like spinning hte boss in circles or holding him in a weird spot? No? THen nobody gives a fuck what the tank is doing.

Hi, been playing since 2.3. Still scared of Savage and have never completed a savage run of anything in a current expansion. The inescapable truth is that one will always be a burden when they are learning a fight, and you have no real indication that any amount of practice will yield anything but frustration. I've only now started doing normal raids again after trying and failing HW normal raids made me quit for 6 months. The only secret is to have friends. The more the better. Get in a discord voice chat together. I'm so thankful for the friends I have made during lockdown that are eroding my anxiety over trying content. When you have 5 people staring at the same mechanics and talking them out it's a lot easier to figure them out!

I've been considering getting back into this games harder content but I've realized it mostly doesn't appeal to me. I could play a single player game touting difficult bosses that will halt your progress for hours on end and still get enjoyment once I've overcome the frustrating bits. Doing so in an MMO is a different beast. The whole multiplayer aspect can make the fights infinitely harder unless you can find that group to synergize with. In my experience that's felt exceedingly rare. I'm sure a lot of that is due to my loner personality but that doesn't mean I couldn't find a place if I really strived to. I just can't be asked to anymore. By no means take this as me saying the game needs an easier endgame or more solo content, keep those in for the people that enjoy them. I just wish I didn't feel like I had to wait for content to be irrelevant to go in and farm for cosmetic stuff.

Not toxic hell, since I've yet to meet salty people, but just pure progression hell if you didn't start progging on day 1. It will suck the joy out of your soul and make you want to uninstall the game. Extremes, though, are PF friendly and a really enjoyable content. I highly recommand it.
