It has to do with how often they eat this much food. It's at most once every 3 days, and almost all the time they just eat regular portions. Your body cant fully digest THIS much food in one sitting, so it just passes through and you sh*t it out. The trick is just to eat small portions for most meals, and once every 3 or so days you do your competitive eating.
