Uchikoshi said in a review that "if there are still fans requesting, I can not deny that there will not be new incidents arriving either". I'm definitely all in for another ride if they can somehow make it happen, but I'm also fine with it ending here. Or maybe he's not referring to a direct sequel at all, like maybe a spin-off game or something. In any case, I'm definitely playing Uchikoshi's future projects anyway, so it might not even matter in the end. And what comes to Danganronpa... Well, I played the fan translation about two years ago (jesus, time goes fast) and I really liked the game! Although it was a bit too anime for my taste, it had really fun and creative mysteries and a lot more gameplay (pacing was good also). But now that the fanbase has grown immensely, I've kind of lost my interest. I don't know why fandoms turn me off so bad, but it's a genuine thing that happens. I think I'll play Danganronpa 3 if it comes out on PC, but I'm not as hyped about it as I was seven months ago.

I wouldn't have the final credits theme any other way. I feel like if the animation for the game was more spectacular, we could SEE the scenes in the archives animated in the background of the credits... I don't want to just read everyone's happy ending... I wanted to SEE Maria strolling on the beach, Akane and Junpei making wedding plans, Sean breaking Mira out (even though I'm not a fan of Q-Team)... but no. Life is simply unfair. I'm waiting for the year 2028 when people will get into the files of the game and reanimate it into a beautiful game. As for the story... debates will go on and on for a while...

Griff - Right yeah, I replayed it again after cooling off too and... i was so stuck on expectations, expecting conclusion on characters like Snake and Santa (what Uchikoshi said he would do), and wrapping up the characters in the cinematic manner that ZTD thrived in. Not in archives. But that’s why the Boy with the Ring scene is like one of the best in the game! And after replaying, I appreciate the plot SO much more, moments like entering the VLR timeline, Carlos’ dedication, the theme of hopelessness and having no choice, all well done! Yea, Spike Chunsoft already improved the lighting for PS4, so lets see if fans take it one step further and improve the animation, haha. It’s a lot of work but fans will go far!

Aside from being the point where it really sinks in that this is the end of the story, the end of Zero Escape, I think this captures the tone of the ZTD perfectly. Everyone is alive and you have a chance to make a better future, but only after the most horrific and harrowing experience. Countless deaths have happened and other timeliness have been sacrificed to reach this point; it's not a happy ending but a bittersweet one, and this track really accentuates that. Who knows, maybe with the popularity of Somnium Files (and a certain extra in the second game) Uchikoshi may eventually give us a little more closure on this story.
@alexisrox445 жыл бұрын
vlr spoilers listening to this ost makes me realise that kyle technically would never exist in the "true" ending of this game. like, putting aside everything, in the timeline that the game ends on, kyle has no purpose of existence. and that actually makes me sad; i can't explain why, but i loved kyle, and i wish we had a chance to see what his life was like growing up, considering how fondly he speaks of akane and such. i think it would've given them some more... charm? idk how to explain it, but i just wish he had more purpose, other than... well, to live in a moon base for his entire life to serve a single purpose and never be acknowledged again.

@@Vadim_Slastihin Oh right, especially after listening to old Junpei's analogy about 100 bikers when we are playing as '???' in Kyle's body. So the people in VLR universe are like that surviving 9 bikers on the timeline where the rest are dead and that timeline still exists even if the past is changed. Additionally he also has no regret for giving up on Akane, especially after seeing what she has become, even saying it's not the Akane he knew anymore. He still has Quark and that's enough to make him happy.

My feeling on reading everyone talking about this game is that you can either like the ending to this game, or like the ending to VLR, but not both. Since I played this game first I didn't know what I was 'supposed' to be missing and was vaguely satisfied with it, whereas I thought VLR's ending dragged on and on and on and contained far too many of the game's twists at the very end and explained everything in far too exhausting detail. For people who played VLR first, it seems to be the opposite, where ZTD's ending doesn't explain nearly enough and doesn't have 3/4 of the things VLR's ending 'promised.'

Even if he wasn't a fireman, his whole character is centered around his drive to save others to atone for failing to save his family. So yes, he would never conciously take someone else's lives. Are they seriously THAT complex? They seem actually easy to figure out. Basically, the whole thing was a test of will to push them to want to stop the upcoming destruction of mankind. The only other "motive" we do not know still is whether the ideas of his organization are also true or just a fake mask he used to rally supporters (Free The Soul claims to want to purify mankind).
@Arudap8 жыл бұрын
True, I feel like "complex motives" is achieving meme status and nothing more, because people misinterpreted the scene where he's interrupted by Phi after saying that as a way for the game to not tell you the rest and get away with it, when he actually continues explaining at the end. Most things that remain unexplained, in my opinion, can be traced back to things we can deduce by the few times we get a glimpe of Zero's personality, which people seem to disregard in favor of having an objective, clear answer that doesn't require them to think things through. I'd have a lot to say about this but I digress. All I'm saying is: you can make it make sense if you really think about it, although I'm not saying there aren't plotholes or anything.

But honestly, the whole 'training' the 9 participants to find the religious fanatic seems a bit outlandish to me. couldn't delta have just outright told everyone his motives behind radical six? everyone save for Eric, Carlos, mira and junpei would have believed him. and even then, akane would have convinced junpei and then Carlos would have followed suit. The theory I have is that Carlos is kinda there as a symbol of the creator's respect to firefighters. Think about it, there's Akane in the incinerator, dying. Phi dying in an incinerator, and Carlos is heald in super high esteem (as a firefighter should be) but more so than people would usually speak. so I think Carlos is also a kind of mouthpiece for that. Maybe the creator experienced some kind of fire-related trauma is a child?
@LeonGun88 жыл бұрын
So,what difference to the world would saving Akane in 999 mean? The whole series is about how one meager change leads to big changes. And ZTD especially takes this to heart. Remember the whole snail thing? One snail, leads to a little girlt urning into a murderer, a man being wrongfully convicted leaving behind a pair of children, which led to a surgeon dying and a little boy never receiving treatment in time, and so on. BTW, you're assumming they would actually believe Delta's reasons. He's the leader of Free the Soul, who created the first Nonary Game. Their whole MO is that they want to "purify mankind".
@khdayskh13148 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I don't understand why the Decision Game would give the crew a reason to actually believe Delta either. Is the purpose of the Decision game to convey the whole exposition that FTS are actually the good guys trying to stop a random religious fanatic? If so, then it did a poor job of doing it. Delta had to pop up in the end and dump an exposition bomb. And think about it: so if they wouldn't believe Delta if he had just told them peacefully, they would believe him only after he made them go through the decision game? That doesn't make any sense to me.

VLRs special ending teased all these secrets about Free the Soul, the origin of Radical 6, Kyle/?, etc. and none of it was explained. And considering the way they talked about FTS in VLR, it makes no sense to have Brother go ,,SIIIKE, I'm doing this for the good of humanity also!! but its too """complex""", so let's end this game/kthxbye"

You might have already heard of this, but it's been confirmed by Uchikoshi that the whole Kyle/? -thing was never really that important to begin with. I had a hunch that this would be the case, considering that the whole ending that introduces ? is a bonus/secret ending, accesible only after you get all the gold files. It wouldn't be very good design if they made it a big deal in ZTD, since the ending is not required in order to beat the game, and some people (if not most (including me)) didn't play through the ending (although I watched it afterwards). But he did say - quite ominously as well - that the ending might "speak" to you, the player, and that ? will have a role in the real world.
