Before doing any Exchange ship selling, remember to grind out the Dill to exchange for Zen for the EC cap upgrade! Your 15 million cap is too low for it to work otherwise. The other pressing use of the Zen from the Dill-Ex is the Elite Services Starter Pack for the bank, inventory, and boff slots. And remember... only buy on sale. Hold off on actually getting/unboxing your final tanking platform until we know next year's Anniversary Ship's stats, we may get a sufficiently capable event ship across the three usual events on the year that you can skip the bought ships and use the resources in other ways. Even the best ship for a playstyle needs to be kitted out for it after all and a slightly weaker ship with better gear may well be a better option overall. If there is a good sale on Lobi ships after you get the Campaign Reward, you can always pick a ship up and not unbox so you can sell it off later. Since you don't have a sponsoring character at first Reputations will take quite a while to ramp up, you will want to get to Tier 5 before doing any Rep projects for the cost reduction. Getting Iconian to Tier 6 may be particularly useful, the gear from it can be an effective backup for not being able to afford enough Ba'ul weapons in time, especially if you pick up Linked Sentry with the Lobi. Do the other Recruit Events, lots of resources from their unlocks. If using Reputation gear the reward for getting the Temporal recruit's full Rep suite to 5 is particularly useful... a bump to rep project gear rarity and level. If you have the time to get one of the Temporal's reps to 6 you get a character locked t6-x upgrade. So if you can hold off on those upgrades. Sorry about the wall of text.

a good console for your f2p tank would be the Shield Absorptive Frequency Generator, from the Valdore, works great with FAW.

This video could work as the first on a series of, just not a tank, of from nothing to something as events progresses and new stuff gets unlocked. I stand 100% behind that, it could be very educational for newer players.

If you get an R&D skill to 15+ or better yet 20, you will usually make 2 superior tech upgrades per craft, which you can then sell for about 2x50k ec. This costs you about 30-40k in materials (Last I checked). At 6 crafting slots that's 360-420k ec in profit every 15 mins that you are logged in (and can keep funding the crafting, sometimes it takes a bit to actually sell the upgrades). I think the ones that require salvaged material are actually even more profitable, but the margins are lower. Do this, and you'll get multiple lobi ships in a year. I forget how many weeks/months it will take a new char to get the R&D skills up high enough, so this is definitely not a short term play for a F2P character, but over the course of a year this can easily make more ec per day than Tour of the Galaxy or other methods, I think (especially since you can be running the crafting while doing Tour, etc).

The Athlete is not the DPRM ship, it's the 5 second Beam Overlord extension ship. :) The DPRM ship is the Purrtotype Dreadnaughty Cruiser. :)

Better make sure you get at least 14 days for each campaign now that there are 6 in the event and they've raised the progress from 3500 to 4200, otherwise it won't be free lol. I did wonder why they were giving us the extra rewards but then noticed we've gotta work harder... more bloody grinding.

If you played warthunder, you would not be calling STO events grinding, lmao ! It takes from a couple of minutes ( winter event) to 15/20 minutes to complete tfo's per day...in WT it takes 8 to 10 hours of playtime (could be a bit less or more depending on the score made each match) every two days, for two weeks to get a free vehicle...after a while it starts feeling like a chore, a job without paycheck! ...nah, STO can have bad things, grindy events isn't one of them.

I'm doing a F2P account since the start of the Pahvo event (wish I'd done it at the start of the 14th), Main reason was the campaign rewards were just too good this year, but I also wanted to see what I could do with no money spent on the game, what I could do using solely event gear and mission gear. It's not easy by any means. Takes a long time to get your rep gear up and running but it certainly is fun (been a long time since I've not had T6 traits etc). I'm looking forward to see what Nic sets up at the end of the year, I'll either being doing a Sci or DEW ultimate build I think. Nic existing tank is awesome, lets see what he can do on this account

I'm f2p, started playing STO last April, so almost a year, only spent 10 euros on zen to buy some progress on the last event cause i missed the first two and was short of 350 points, from the event i got the D7 MW with the trait, ruin of our enemies and access to advanced disruptors/phasers, got cold hearted and domino console with epic phoenix tokens, have another in my bank that i got a couple of weeks ago...have the gagarin and the arbiter, won a token from a raffle and the other was from cryptic. Bought the e.c. cap and some bank and ship slots selling dill for zen, and with isomags (not anymore!) and contraband sold in the exchange i made enough ec to get the best traits, available in exchange, for space and ground. There's good stuff from rep/missions, some are even best in slot, like burham's armor/suit, the na'kuhl shield, risian kit frame (and module, ball lightning, grethor's chains). With all prizes available for this event i would say f2p players can't complain about having a hard experience, just takes a little patience while enjoying the game. ( jebus !!! i didn't mean to write the never ending comment! )

Lean HARD on the recruits when you get them. With all of them, you get about enough marks to get all reps to five with virtually no TFOs.. Especially the Temp Ops recruit for the account wide Ultra Rare Mk XIII rep gear unlock.

Pick up the Valdore Heavy Warbird for the console for ~75,000 Dil. T6 token Choices - Buran, Arbiter, Narenda, Gagarin, Endeavour, Ahwahnee, Chioce pack - Atlas Prototype Dreadnought or Sagan. I think you making the right choices using the Lobi to get the Kiwavi as you tanking platform. Since you are not going for the Abiter for EWC you may run into trouble with weapon power levels, isomags may reduce this, also limiting your energy weapons down to 6 will do more damage and therefore threat and using two of the wide arc torps from the Prolonged set and from the Gama Rep giving you a 360 degree arc of fire with torps to give the ETM to keep FAW up. Also means you can go for a more broadside 360 build. Also you endeavors will be very low so will need to adjust for that aswell with more survivability. You could do as Spencer sudjested and use the lobi for EC and use the Free Fleet ship modules to get a tanking platform and buy a T6 100% token with the EC.

if you grind and refine 8k dil per day for 150 days you can get enough to buy a T6 ship during a 20% Sale. Which can be speed up playing multiple characters.

If you convert Dilithium to Zen on the Dilithium Exchange there is a cap increase to 2 billion ec you can buy. It costs 1000z standard but occasionally goes on pretty significant sales.
