Something I've learned through my health struggles is that if something helps 2-3%, it's still worth doing because if you're doing, say, 5 things that help 2-3%, you'll find yourself doing 10 - 15% better. Thats pretty good! That's the difference between 75% & 90%! So I think it's great that you're making a difference wherever you can. I'm going to go ahead and get the biodegradable period materials and then at least I know they won't still be around centuries later 😅 Thank you for the encouragement

Very good. Decluttering and zero waste. For me both of those becomes so much decision fatigue. I guess once you come up with solutions to make it go without having to think about what to do so much then it’s ok. Good job.

The idea of avoiding plastic is new to me. We don't have many options for shopping here in the mountains. Of course there's a farmer's market once weekly, so that helps. I totally agree with donating things instead of having yard sales. That makes life so much easier when trying to downsize. There are no longer any second hand stores in this town so my place to donate is 75 miles away, but anytime I go there I can take things to give away. Of course there's also the online option of advertising things on Facebook Marketplace or most communities have a group on Facebook for selling or exchanging things. I haven't tried that but am considering it.

What you can do all depends on where you are.

I'm watching this and thinking about all the plastic and it's everywhere! My son and I just talked about this a few days ago on how we could do better. Now I'm thinking about the deli/meat department and oh my goodness- that's a lot of plastic, too! You're right. I think it's about awareness so that we can all do our best.
@faithbooks79066 ай бұрын
@@mitzireadsandwrites once you become aware, it is like all stores are just seas of plastic. And it’s never gonna go away and our children’s children will have more and more microplastics in their blood and body tissue! It is honestly horrifying to me. But I do think if everyone got on board just a little we could blunt the force of the catastrophe at least. That’s something in the direction of doing the right thing!

I was just thinking about how tampons and pads have so much plastic waste! Then I realized that even if I switched to biodegradable options, they would still be thrown out in my plastic bag of trash ☹️ So now I'm not sure what to do 😅 Thank you for this inspiring video! I love your updates. I will finish your video later. I saw you voxed me, too, but I'm down with a fever and will respond after a nap 😴

@@ChristyLuisDostoevskyinSpace have you heard of a diva cup? I think that is what plastic free women use. But using plastic free biodegradables even if it does wind up in the land fill is still better in my opinion. So sorry you have a fever! Hope you recover soon!

Thank you for sharing your journey with us. I'm a vegetarian and do eat the beyond/impossible meat occasionally but it's not my main protein source. I think moderation is key.

@@faithbooks7906 I like that the beyond products provide more options for people and maybe is a gateway for people considering becoming a vegetarian.

Hey Faith, I think what you brought up about the need to use less electricity is so key. In the discussion on the environment and climate change, especially on a large say national scale, the idea of using less electricity is not really discussed. It seems like we are all so used to it and to take any steps back would require lots of change and perhaps more work (things we would have to relearn or more steps to preserve items, etc.). I have a random question for you, (if you don't mind me asking). Do your kids pay you to take care of/watch your grandchildren? My mother-in-law has been watching my kids a bit while I'm working and the expectations they have verses what I have are different, so I'm interested in other arrangements.
@faithbooks79066 ай бұрын
I don't charge for watching my own grandchildren. I feel very blessed to have them in my life! I am so happy to help my daughter and son in law out. I have recently learned that grandparents who are close to their grandchildren have better health and live longer! So the arrangement is mutually beneficial for all parties!
