Description:
The first ever single segment demo for doom 2 that actually activates all the secrets.
This includes the map 15 secret at about 23:00 (23:35) and the map 27 secret at about 40:54 (41:00)
On map 27 I do a skip on an east facing teleport linedef to get 100%, while on map 15 I use a pain elemental to put me on the same height as the secret to get 100%.
Maps 14,21,29,30 have no secrets.
1:26 faster than my previous time from 2.5 years ago, loses over 2 minutes on map 15 because of waiting for the pain elemental.

@@rice7r There's an explanation in his previous video "Pain elemental reveals last official secret of Doom 2" - it involves having a pain elemental spawn a lost soul on top of you to push you down into a secret that's otherwise impossible to grab because stepping into its location moves you up onto the teleporter.

Whenever I watch or play Doom on nightmare difficulty, I often wonder if the creators put this mode in a joke thinking it was unbeatable. Doom on nightmare is insane. Anyone who watches this video and knows very little about doom, I challenge you to play the first two levels of either doom on the difficulty. Most players who are decent at gaming will probably be able to manage to beat the first levels of Doom 1 and 2, but will be pulling their hair out after trying the second levels. Zero Master, you are amazing at these games and it's a ton of fun to watch you.

they did put NM difficulty in as a joke. but try to beat NM with just the standard old school controls. keyboard only. NOBODY is able to do that. so now all source ports have mouse support its easier to play NM. but still very very hard ofc. but easier then with just a keyboard. so yes it was intended as a joke.

@@whydoihavetousemyrealname305 no you cant. the original doom controls where not intented to be with mouse and keyboard. Doom95 launcher and the original floppy discs doom versions where not set up to play with mouse and keyboard.

I've been playing using mouse/keyboard since the shareware version was originally released (it's also worth noting that Wolfenstein 3D also supported using the mouse on DOS, Mac, and SNES). You can even rebind the movement/strafe keys to WASD if you wanted to. Don't believe us? Download the DOS shareware version and install it in DOSBox. There was a silly remark in the Doom 95 manual about the game being designed for keyboard only, but this is proven wrong simply by watching the included demos. As was mentioned by Bleeker TV, the smooth movements in those demos can't be done using keyboard controls.

damn i've played doom 2 & others on & off since i was a kid!... i wondered if anyone would ever hav uploaded themselves beating it nightmare! Brilliant! Have to ask though, what were your thoughts when on downtown you were down to 28% health? Monster condo when 1. You forget the blue key and 2. When you had to go through the revenants and lost souls towards the end as you would have normally had invulnerability? And lastly the living end when you knew it was all but sealed barring a failed rocket jump at the end, knowing if it failed the run was dead. Thanks for deciding to do a 100% nightmare all secrets as I thought it would never be done

I'm always low on health on downtown, so it's ok. I forgot there was another reason besides the secrets to go through the yellow key door, heh. I thought I had thrown away the run at that point because when shit doesn't go as planned you usually die pretty quickly on nightmare, at least I knew immediately what I needed to do. Also there's a soulsphere by the lost souls so I figured I'd be safe at that point. I've done the RJ on living end enough to the point I have no fear of it anymore. I was hoping I'd be without such a dumb mistake like forgetting the key, oh well :)

Luring that pain elemental to the secret area looks so hard on nightmare. I'd understand if you had to reset some runs because you killed it in frustration after it decided to wander across the map instead of cooperating. Gotta assert that dominance, you know.

Awesome video! Noticed you skipped the backpack on MAP03, does the secret there Not count to total secrets for the level? Ignore me if I'm being silly, I always thought it was considered a secret. I've recently been playing Doom II. Still a lot of fun! 😊 Thanks for the video, very informative.

Secret area attributes are tied to sectors, not entities. You don't need to pick up any items. Entering the sector is enough. Edit: in this case, the backpack is not in a secret area at all (even though it probably should have been marked as one). The only secret area on the entire map is that pit along the south wall of the main room. Entering that pit is enough to achieve 100% secrets. I did find it interesting he took an extra couple seconds to grab the invisibility and armor in there. Probably saves more time not having to recover health since it's immediately followed by hitscanner hell for the rest of MAP03 and the start of MAP04.

unlikely honestly, I don't really do let's play videos, heh. I don't expect eternal doom to be difficult (neither was doom 2016), and so finishing ultra nightmare first isn't something I care too much about since it will most likely be done in 1-2 days again by someone. Then again I had no plans of doing the doom 2016 videos either, so who knows.

So, which level is made so much harder by doing it this way and not the traditional way? Im no expert on nightmare runs, but on standard i always struggle a great deal on the pit. But i can see how a great deal is added to tricks & traps and refueling base in this kind of run. You also messed up a bit on downtown, so that ended up being a bit longer than necessary. I suppose in such a consideration you could also ignore Industrial zone - as that trick with the pain elemental is obviously the gimmick that makes this run possible now whereas it wasnt before. As always, super run by the doom god Zero Master.

Hobo in map 01 it’s not a secret, but useful to have and very quick to grab. It’s usefulness would likely save you time in the long run, compared to the quick moment it takes to grab.

Nigthmare have -speed and -respawn, but have doubleammo, so plasma gun are more useful.Maybe in some maps UV-Speed is harder than Nigthmare

Normally enemies shoot directly towards your position on the frame their attack releases, invisibility will make their attacks fire towards an RNG offset instead. Against projectile enemies this is detrimental, as now you can't predict where enemies' projectiles will go as they are firing in random directions, but against hitscanners it can be a lifesaver, as you can't dodge their attacks anyway and now their shots will miss a lot more often.

In a nutshell, it makes the enemies shoot anywhere around you, or at least not directly at you. Makes projectiles harder to dodge while moving around, but makes hitscan far less dangerous.

Why is there no 100% items/kills/secret runs? Only just pure speedruns or 100% secrets only? Not that I could do that on Nightmare though.. I do 100% Slooowly on UltraViolence, but that is a piece of cake compared to Nightmare

Nightmare 100% kills is kinda pointless since killing a respawning enemy counts twice, so the final kill count doesn't match the amount of enemies in the level.

It would probably be difficult though, but the players seems to just get better and better. And that could be an next level of skill test, or luck test.. You could have an 100% kills as an minimum number though, if I play on Nightmare I usually get over 100% kills if I try to pick up everything anyway.
