Nice haversack. I have a similar haversack, it’s a Yugoslav military version. It definitely is handy. I also have a military belt pack, they make a great combo. I like the axe sleeve. I hope you and your family are doing well.

Thanks for the well wishes, we are doing good! hope you are too, been a crazy year !! It is a great piece of gear for sure, what belt pack do you run? I have a voodoo tactical "deployment bag" that I have had for about 10 years or so that I run in combo with this often. It works great for day hikes and when I am hunting.

A couple things, I ordered a custom one, a few things were done, but my main order of putting hook & loop/Velcro on the CCW compartment was not put on their, even though we messaged each other twice about this. Also don’t expect YKK Zippers, he uses Dunlop. He hadn’t updated anything about the pouches that were given as extra, and I’m thinking he’s starting to cut corners. The bag looks fine, but I’m upset that he didn’t put hook & loop in the CCW area, now it’s just a pocket...

Hmm well that sucks. I can only speak for the gear I purchased, all being very well made. I would definitely let them know how you feel about the gear you received.

Just curious, what made you tell your audience about the patches?
@Scablands_Scavenger Жыл бұрын
The stitching on this bag is very nicely done, no tags, twists or crooked rows. The top patch was sewn on by someone else after purchasing with pretty rough stitching so I did not want people to think it would come looking like that.

Good video! Thanks for the information. Curious, what is that knife with the sculpted scales? Also, is that esee gibson axe large/strong enough to process some small (3-4 in wide) pieces of firewood? I've been looking at those.
@Scablands_Scavenger4 жыл бұрын
The small knife is made by James Gibson of Knob Creek Forge, the Designer of the Gibson axe, I was so impressed with the function and design of the little axe I contacted Mr Gibson and asked him to make me a knife LOL. Yes, I have used the little Gibson axe to process down small rounds 4-6" with the help of a saw to feed a campfire, stick stove and my hot tent stove. I also use it to rough cut spoon blanks when carving, it has "perfect rocker" and has a very good balance. I will admit I was very skeptical when I purchased it being a fan of more traditional axes/hawks. Initially It was just a purchase for requested sheath builds for me. I watched the interviews of Mr Gibson and the reasoning behind the design and decided to give it a try, very glad I did. It has its limitations but with a skilled user it performs above its weight class. Of course everyone's opinions will vary with intended use and preference !

Lost me at 99 bucks. I have Helikon-tex satchel at half the cost, with more features and volume.
@Scablands_Scavenger3 жыл бұрын
Well sounds like you found a bag that works for you in the Helikon, good to hear! I don't mind paying the extra for hand made goods especially if you can get them made to order. Happy trails!
