So in that clip demo was at low health so it only detonated 1 sticky (which game assumed was enough to kill demo and negated all other stickies) but 1 sticky isn't enough to kill a sniper . However in ur case , if u do the same thing at higher or full health, the game will detonate several stickies because it will take multiple stickies to kill full health demo , and so those stickies will damage and kill others unless u try this on heavy. So u can self kill and kill others like u said but u need to be at higher health
