Excellent video Gary - thanks for answering my question about the shifter mechanism on my 6HP19A. Im going see if I can nudge it loose with some Kroil and if that doesnt work, drop the pan and poke around.

@@GaryFerraro Hey Gary - you were spot on some penetrant freed up the shift mechanism. However, that particular transmission seems like it had other issues and I was unable to get it to work right. I have to revert to another transmission.

What do I like about Gary's channel? It's not dominated by GM transmissions, particularly the 4L60E and maybe they occasional 6L80/90.

What? Do you mean like Precision Transmission? Lol. It's a good channel too, but I agree, lot's of the same units. Just working with what they got. 🤷🏻‍♀️

If one word can describe a business, "professional" sums up my dealings with Gary Ferraro's AAA-1 Transmissions. Not a man to promise a lot but then fall short, Gary Ferraro, along with his head mechanic, (also Gary - easy to remember), outperformed expectations, again and again. A tough project to tackle, my 2004 VW V8 Phaeton needed... a lot of work. Two other shops had completely failed, after months, to deliver anything. Then, I found Gary's KZbin channel. I gave him a call, and the Phaeton was trailered from three states away to his West Hempstead, NY shop. Anyone can appreciate attention to detail, especially now, when it seems mediocrity and "close enough" attitudes are common work ethics. But to receive MORE than hoped for is really rare, now or ever. Just a couple of examples: Having completely rebuilt the 6HP19, ZF 6-Speed transmission in the 4-Motion Phaeton, Gary noticed a very slow drip from the weep hole. Not content to return it in less than A1 shape, he stripped it down to find the cause, which turned out to have been a defective bearing seal. How many shops, I wonder, would have been so meticulous? Or take, for example, the troubleshooting wizadry exhibited by head mechanic Gary. He found the cause of numerous electrical gremlins by tracing the origin to previously done electrical work. Then, he eliminated them by rewiring the entire, 80+ wire-connector for the KESSY Module. At a transmission shop? Really? Considering their comprehensive parts & sub-system sources in Europe and elsewhere, noting their masterful knowledge and skills, and recognizing their achievement of high professional standards, AAA-1 Transmissions is clearly a business in a unique league. They took my pretty rare, really special but horribly substandard collector's car and turned it into a sublime specimen that could be a daily driver. If you need any work done to your vehicle, give AAA-1 a call. I suspect that you will feel gratified and rewarded by their attention, and I unreservedly give them my highest possible recommendation.

Exact same box in my 2004 Audi s4 B6. I’m getting issues with it in drive but sport hides the issue. Will rip off that pan and inspect it. 233,000 km on it

I have this transmission in my car, 05 a4, I’ve been having a humming type noise that I have narrowed down to the passenger side Axel flange, it has some play in it, I’m wondering if you know what the part numbers I would need to change the bearings associated with the diff? Any help is much appreciated. Thank you
@GaryFerraro
@GaryFerraro Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't know part numbers for that, may have to get some print out from Audi, so the noise is only when moving?
@joshuawelch9701
@joshuawelch9701 Жыл бұрын
@@GaryFerraro yes while moving, and I can move the Axel flange , I do have parts breakdown , however it don’t show part numbers. I’ll probably have to just pull it apart and look for numbers on any of the bearings needed. Do you know if there is a needle roller type bearing on the cover? I watched a video on the 5hp and it had that type of bearing that looked to be in that cover .

Hello. Ive got a audi a4 b7 3.0tdi tiptronic. Is it normal that when the tranny and motor are cold that it doesent hold the gears downhill when you need the engine braking? Thanks in advange
@GaryFerraro
@GaryFerraro 2 ай бұрын
Not sure on that but i can tell you that the computer likes the car in closed loop and the transmission may not do certain things until it goes into closed loop. The computer may delay shifting as an example to heat it up faster

@patrikgrah1448 2 ай бұрын
@GaryFerraro my problem is that the tranny doesend hold the gears cold. I forgot that it slips the gears when cold. Some times even when warm. No errors shown. But dont know if its normal that it slips in neural.

Hi Gary. I have an Audi A6, 2011, 3.0 TDI with 6HP19A gearbox. I have a slight vibration in the front right suspension at 130 - 140 km/h. In your professional opinion, could this vibration come from the right flange bearing of the front differential? Do you have a spare part number for that bearing? Or the entire differential? Thank you...
@GaryFerraro
@GaryFerraro Жыл бұрын
I do not have any parts for this, have you checked tire balance?
@alexszekely6721
@alexszekely6721 Жыл бұрын
Yes, I checked the tyres balance and it was ok (I will check them on a more professional machine - Hunter) , but I heard that the bearing of the front diff could cause this vibration. I checked and ZF doesn't provide a part number for the bearing or the differential (which is strange, because for the 5HP19 they do provide the part numbers both for the bearing and for the differential). I hoped that you have more connections with the ZF spare parts providers and help me with those numbers. 😀

@@joshuawelch9701 Hi Josh. I didn't fix it yet. There is some play in the flange. Some say it's because of the differential bearing in which the flange is inserted (min. 4.30 of Gary's video). Others say it's because of the inner CV joint... I just ordered a new CV joint, so I'll start with that. I'll get back in a few days with my feedback...
