(It’s not easy being the sandwiched generation whereby one’s parents have double standards and one’s kids take full advantage and drive one up the wall.) everything also 没关系。what harm can a few sweets do? What harm can watching another episode or playing another game do? Plenty of harm, I tell you. It’s sheer disregard of parents’ rights. Overwritten by ‘doting’ (read: overbearing/ nonsensical) grandparents. 14:02 there is just so so so much noise from the people around us - in laws, relatives, strangers… - and I fully agree that it ‘sucks’ to feel that despite your best, loving intentions and actions as a parent, one always seems to be doing the wrong things. I truly wonder why there isn’t more kindness, compassion, empathy, understanding, respect and support for a parent. Pls stop saying things that are ‘supposed to be for our good’. Many of us are educated parents who can read and find out what we want to and who have our own minds and ways about how to do things aka parent. I now understand so so so much better the wise saying - silence is golden. Should I ever have the privilege to be a grandparent, I have learnt to (1) let parents parent, (2) keep quiet more often and just enjoy the grandkids, (3) respect the parents and their ways with the thought that they definitely want the best for their kids, (4) get a life which makes one an interesting and busy grandparent and not a nosy one, (5) stop comparing the past and now because times change, (6) support the parents because having gone through one round of parenting, one knows how hard it is to parent and well, one round is enough. I sure don’t want to parent the grandkids. No way. Give me a break. I will try my best to be an enlightened grandparent/ person. 44:55 🎉 so wise. Great validation. 🎉 This is a healing and comforting episode. Thank you 🙏🏼
