Hengqin Guangdong-Macau Deep Cooperation Zone (Portuguese: Zona de Cooperação Aprofundada entre Guangdong e Macau em Hengqin), formerly known as Zhuhai Hengqin New Area established on November 25, 2009, is located in the south of Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, China, adjacent to Macau and Zhuhai City, a special economic zone jointly managed by Guangdong Province and the Macao Special Administrative Region, covering an area of approximately 106 square kilometers and a total population of 53,040 people. It actually governs the entire Hengqin Island. It was officially unveiled on September 17, 2021. It is planned to be closed for operation from 0:00 on March 1, 2024.
