Sounds very similar to how Japan and Korea did. Protect local industries from foreign competition until local industries improve their competitive position. Very smart to do so. Democracy has nothing to do with this. Looked at Japan in the 80s when Japan start to challenge US economically. We forced them to accept our term unconditionally. Since then look at what had happened to Japan . BTW, Japan is a full fledged Democracy. If you are king of the hill, would you like others to challenge your position.

Well, even if a country doesn't like to be challenged, you have to handle your policy moderately. That is why politics it's an art and Xi is not good enough to handle it gently. Even U.S. doesn't do whatever they want.

I can tell you are Chinese, pretending like you are American, hence “we forced them to accept our term unconditionally”. Only Chinese uses this type of tune and perspective, because that’s what CCP media had been selling to its people. That’s why blaming USA is what you can find in Chinese articles, which is not the case when you search in English. The fact is Japan economic downfall wasn’t caused by US. Nor did US force Japan to sign plaza accord. According to news around that time, Japan was the one that wish to join and sign this treaty. Simply blame US for Japan economic bubble is stupid and ignorant. therefore, unfair competition of CCP supported companies (which is a lot, like all of them can be controlled by CCP) were the biggest reason why US started to confront China. So of course it has to do with democracy, because no democratic country government could control companies in such large scale, and provide such long term support, something that CCP has been doing throughout. Democratic governments only provide starting help to initiate a program or company or industry in its early form, and that’s a fundamental difference to what CCP has been doing. PS: your profile shows, you are indeed Chinese 😂. Stop using “WE”. You ain’t American.
