只要小孩喜欢玩的棋才是最经典 As long as the child likes to play, the chessman is the most classic

I've thought of a concept. Chess as a triathlon. 1 game of Western Chess. 1 game of Chinese Chess. In case of a tie, Backgammon as the tie breaker. I call it: The Gamesters of Triskelion.

Er ... shogi, janggi, and makruk would like a word with you :)

@@DieFlabbergast Shogi has too many chess genes. It is a Frankenstein of a game. Janggi is just messed up Xiangqi, just to be different. Maruk is too Chaturanga, too old fashioned.

Nah tiebreaker should be chaturanga or duck chess

Chinese Chess: So difficult International chess: Only smart people can play Go: ok
I started with western chess then many years later tried xiangqi, shogi and janggi. Whichever one I prefer depends on my mood to be honest, like Bach ,Beethoven or Mozart. Western chess is strategically a bit more deep, but Xiagqi has some incredible tactics. Neither go back 2000 years though. Chess started as a 4 player game called Chataranga in India about 600 AD. It spread east and west. In the east it became Xiangqi, Shogi and Janggi as well as Burmese and Thai chess. In the west it became Shatranj in Persia, which eventually turned into Western chess about 1300 AD. Xiangqi probably predates western chess by about 200 years.
