サルたちは寒い冬に温泉から上がっても湯冷めはしません。 ヒトは、皮膚の汗腺から汗を出し、その気化熱で体温を調節しているため、湯上りに必要以上に熱を放出してしまうと、体温が急激に下がりすぎて湯冷めをします。 サルのように全身を毛に覆われた動物は汗腺が少なく、汗をあまりかかないために、急激な体温変化は起こりにくいのです。 更に、寒冷地適応で体の末端の毛細血管が収縮し体温を奪われない機能が発達しています。 そのため、サルはヒトと比べると湯冷めをしにくいと言えます。雪の上で裸足で暮らしていても霜焼けにならないのもそのためです。 と、地獄谷野猿公苑の公式サイトにかかれてます。

ニホンザルは厚い被毛のおかげで温泉に入っても皮膚までは濡れない、だから湯冷めはしないと聞いていたんだけど、あれだけ毛づくろいしていたらやはり濡れるんじゃないのかな？(^_^;)　湯冷めは大丈夫だろうか。

When humans get out of the hot spring in midwinter, they will get cold and catch a cold. Japanese monkeys do not get wet to the skin even if they enter a hot spring thanks to their thick coats. Therefore, they do not cool down even if going out of the hot spring. But if they are so groomed, will they still get wet?　Don't they catch a cold?
