Hate to burst your bubble there, but original Daggerfall had flat terrains. At best you would get some bumps on the ground, simulating rocky terrains but there were no actual mountains or height difference. It was supposed to tho, iirc you can still find unfinished code for that but it was eventually scrapped like a lot of things because of small available development time (also the game's size was already super massive for that time). What you see is a highly modded version of Daggerfall. I get ya tho, lots of Daggerfall keeps getting better as technology advances, which shows just how dashing and advanced this game was. No other RPG got that far.
@jimlthor2 жыл бұрын
@@LowikQC I just downloaded Daggerfall the other day. I was shocked it was over 1 GB. Morrowind was barely 1 GB, and it actually uses 3D textures. Pretty big game for its time. And yea, i know Baldurs Gate and a few others were bigger, but they copied a lot of shit from CD to CD
@queuedjar457811 ай бұрын

Wow, I built the world for the game and I didn't know a mountain (or two) like this existed in the game. Its caused by a mistake in the height map that the terrain generator used. The height map was made by hand so its likely this block was missed in the process. I'm thinking its a map border issue since its right next to where one would be drawn and is set to max height (0xFF) unlike the surrounding areas. And yes, it could have used a town or dungeon at the top. Thanks for the video!

When you brought out the Ring of Levitation, that was rather mind blowing for me. Because I grew up in an era where Game Devs will do everything within their godly power to prevent you from getting off the ground, and if you do get off the ground (usually through the use of a glitch) you can use it to hop over the Invisible walls they used to railroad you and break the game. Games these days have so much more room for 3-dimensional level design (You're pretty much not restricted at all!) yet 99% of the time you're stuck being a bottom feeder crawling along the ground, and if there is so much as a waist-high fence between you and where you want to go, you're trapped on this side of the railroad.
